the biggest problems with U boat is 1) the missions are just not interesting nor well designed 2) the crew mangement system is more like prison architect and less like SH4 where you have different crews working in shifts. FOTRSU and particularly the S boat campaign lends itself heavily to Dick O’Kane method. @markusschilk47892 жыл бұрын
I learned it during my weapons-course for becoming a submariner in the german navy. If the cavitation sound becomes louder and then more quieter and than again louder and so one. We called it the "Ein-aus-Effekt" . It stands for small vessels, because of the waves. If it´s sounds like a smacking, it´s compressed cavitation. It´s a large ship with draught. The bubbles will be more compressed, because of the pressure in the deeper water. Most merchant ships only got one propeller. The sound is very clear. You can listen to the single propeller blades. If it´s becomes unclear, you got more contacts or a warship, because they often had more propellers.

I can get them running, they just crash in weird places.. SH4 crashes if I save or load a save that was near a port, for example. SH5 just randomly crashes. I installed the 4GB patch and I tried running in compatibility mode and as administrator. I looked up fixes. I did try modding SH5 with one of the large mods and it worked for a while and then just stopped working and would crash to desktop on start. I've got UBoat now though, but there's still something about the SH games that just feels right (not knocking the UBoat devs, it's a great game and I think it'll be on par with SH soon).

Having been on one of the US fleet submarines (USS Batfish), as well as a Type IX boat, and a later Cold War-era Soviet Tango class (a diesel electric that was sort of a second generation development of the Type XXI, the US fleet submarines were relatively luxurious for their crews and well equipped for the era. It's not hard to see why the US had a lot more success in their submarine war. The Batfish was a far more comfortable ship to work in relative to the Tango.
