I made up a lil story when I got AE at Christmas that if one of my pups died, my wolf would take comfort in the fact that her baby helped another baby survive for a little bit longer. My family would howl to mourn the loss, but then take comfort in the fact that the pup's death helped another. My wolf Luna who is age 7 now, hopes that Elk and Mule Deer mothers think the same thing. But part of her knows that they probably never will and will forever see wolves as monsters and the bad guys.

All my wolves almost are my OCs too. I write backstories for them and books about my favs. Eclipse and Moon have a LOT of chapters about them somewhere in my files I think. Moon is the daughter of Yinyang who is the alpha of one of the strongest packs in amethyst mountain. As she grows up she becomes an échelé the hunter who’s well respected in her pack and some other packs. When she starts improving Yinyang demands more of her, making her feel trapped. While on a border patrol one day, Moon meets the loner Eclipse who has a long backstory about her siblings and how her brother disappeared due to humans and Eclipses sister searched for him and didn’t return. Eclipse decides that she has to leave her home and find a new better place to live alone due to packs chasing her away constantly. Eclipse wanders for months in the direction her sister went to and finds herself at amethyst mountain. Moon and Eclipse find their ways into each other’s hearts and after a lot of adventures and battles, leave amethyst mountain after finding out that Eclipses sister, Raven, was alive and possibly their brother too. Eclipse and Moon eventually finds Raven who has found her own mate and then Eclipse and Moon adopts some pups they found by a fallen tree and establishes their own territory where they raise their pups in safety.

I just gotta say, those baby elk are adorable. it'll almost be a shame to kill them, but the pups need to eat too and ill try to refrain from making a elk baby pile like some people do with the hares. I'm glad that they won't be too easy to kill either. Hopefully a bear won't come to my den looking to steal it. Slough Creek looks amazing and I really can't wait to play it. So will the pups only be able to feed on the small prey like elk babies by themselves without it being regurgitated for them, or will they also be able to feed on the large prey carcass's without you regurgitating for them(if a player manage to herd an adult elk there so its very close to the pups when its killed)? Also, what changes happen to the spike elk during spring and summer?

Regurgitated food is the best way to carry food back from large carcasses efficiently. You can also grab a chunk to carry.

earlier this year I was lucky enough to see a wild baby red deer. I was visiting a wildlife reserve in my country (de Hoge Veluwe, which is technically a park since it is fenced in but the animals are wild and not used to humans) and my mother and I were cycling along one of the bike routes within the park and saw a baby red deer who had hidden in a little grove near the bike path and was just brave enough to stand up and nibble on some grass right as we were nearby. I stopped and signaled mom to stop and look, we tried to get a photo but it was impossible to see the baby deer in the photo, especially since it noticed us right away and curled up again. baby deer camouflage works so well, I knew exactly where it was but I had trouble seeing it! we waited until some other cyclists had passed us (we pretended we'd stopped to just get a drink of water, to avoid drawing too much attention to the baby deer who must've been scared out of its mind already), and then we moved on. I don't know if mama deer was nearby at the time, she might've been too scared to approach the bike path during the day, but I sincerely hope that no one else saw the baby deer and that mama deer returned to it as soon as all the humans had left for the night.

I’ve seen so many videos of adults and even kids finding deer calves in giant patches of tall grass either in the woods or right outside their house, and I thought the baby had been abandoned or the mom had died, but then I figured out that the mother is most likely nearby, it’s so cool to see how you incorporate that into this game! I had no idea elk did the same thing! (It’s cuz most of the types of deer calves people find are white tailed deer)

I remember one of the first times I saw a lone mother elk, and one she saw me, she ran over to a patch of grass and stood staring at me. I was like “lol what if the baby is there?” Yeah it actually was. That elk led me to her baby. There is blood on that elk’s hooves.

In WolfQuest 2.7 I remember wondering why there were no baby elk. So happy that there in the game and a new hunting challenge to go along with it. Slough Creek is going to be so much fan in multiplayer. I was thinking in Slough Creek your mate should be more independent because you and your mate could split up and hunt baby elk since it only takes one bite to kill them.This will provide enough food for the pups if you have a big litter. If you want your mate to follow you. maybe you and you’re mate can howl together to make your mate fallow you.

What I wonder most is how long the pups would be full for after a big meal. I know in 2.7 their stomachs had entire dimensions inside of them so they were infinitely hungry, I’d assume the new pups might have a toned down version of that.

Awww the baby models are so cute. It would be cool that you had like a 1 in 100 chance to be able to pick up the baby elk without killing it, it's been known that sometimes predators who have recently or will soon be giving birth will actually adopt the prey they meant to hunt. So maybe that could happen sometimes, like you could adopt a baby elk but after a day it would die and attract more pup predators.
