Life and Death and Beavers (v1.0.7 Released!)

Today we are releasing the next big update of WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, with three new features - Age Perks, Ironwolf, and Beavers - plus dozens of smaller improvements and bugfixes. Get an overview in the devblog video and then dive in and try them for yourself! Many thanks to all the beta testers who provided essential feedback over the past weeks. We really appreciate your help!
The game will update itself automatically via Steam or the WolfQuest game launcher.

WOLFQUEST UPDATE 1.0.7 - Released on 4 May 2021
NEW:
* Beavers now live along the Lamar River, Slough Creek, and in the Lost River beaver pond. They are most active at dawn and dusk. When you find a beaver trail, follow the tutorial tip to lie in wait and (hopefully) ambush one. (More info in Game Help: Hunting Beavers)
* Age Perks system offers a selection of physical, clout, and wisdom bonuses for each year of your wolf's life. Once a year, you have the option to advance your wolf in age by one year and select from a new set of perks. On your birthday (in April, just before your pups are born) you will be presented with the Age Perks menu, where you can view all of the Age Perks available at each age. You can select up to three new Age Perks if you wish to advance to the next age. If you advance through the years, your final choice will be whether to advance to age eight, which will make your wolf an Elder Wolf who, at some point, will die. (More info in Game Help: Age Perks)
* Ironwolf mode: In the real world, wolves are one false move or unlucky kick away from death. Now you too can live life on the edge by choosing Ironwolf mode when creating a wolf. This is a hardcore mode for players who really want to live the life of a wild wolf. Ironwolves have only one save, and upon dying will be permanently dead. (More info in Game Help: Ironwolf)
* New "Reminisce" mode: After an Elder Wolf dies, older saved games (from before age eight) use this mode so you can revisit your mate and pups and relive memories, but you cannot save your game.

You work so hard WQ! I was thinking of some features I had in mind for the game. I noticed that when you have pups and add them to the menu it might be a hassle having to constantly scroll to find the wolf you want to choose. A search button would be helpful to find the wolf you want instead of scrolling and maybe even having a favorites section! Just some thoughts :) I also hope when this game is done you will get nominated for an award because this game is absolutely beautiful!

Playing the beta, this has already changed my experience. I decided to have the same mate as I go throughout the aging experience and I’m surprised how fond I became of them and how many stories I have now and as we grew old together it tugged at my heart.

Awesome! Love the work you guys share in this game!!! I can play for hours.. And I'm not the video gaming type of person lol. I'm now 15, but I've liked wolves and learning their behavior scince about the age of 9. I started playing the older version of WolfQuest when I was 11. I dunno what happened to the audio of the backround music in some parts of this video lol. I love the 'revisiting' option for after your wolf dies from old age.. So nostalgic!

This is by far the biggest update since 3.0 was out for early access! The next update that will likely shadow this is when Slough Creek and pups releases to multiplayer. I really enjoyed beta testing this update :)

I also have a possible option for the next update, Stampedes! Multiple elk and deer herds all together and all of them running on to of you is like 50 kicking and stomping on you at one time! They would be more common in open fields and Rendezvous sites. When looking for a den, coyote and fox dens that are open on the ground will be very dangerous and it’s best to stay in the den even if there are fleas. They could be caused by multiple herds near each other in a straight open space that got spooked and are now running to your doom! Pups, and other animals in the way get stomped on. They last until the herds settle down and break apart. There is even bison stampedes too which make it even worse.if your at your den it would warn you about the stampede 20 seconds before it reaches you. Rivers and lakes will also divide them into smaller groups. If your caught in one, it’s best to stay running with them or run away. Lamar valley is one of the most perfect spots for one. The screen shakes a bit too. It’s just an opinion I had! And thanks for the game info, I’ll look forward to getting it very soon!

I find this so interesting… I haven’t gotten the chance to get WQ 3 yet but I can’t wait! My wolves would get such a kick out of the age thing… Idk about the whole iron wolf thing, but just because it’s not for me doesn’t mean others won’t love everything that has to do with it. Once I have a computer again, I'm gonna try and do an aging ironwolf legacy challenge. Raise as many pups as possible before dying, then pick from one of those pups and have them be ironwolf, etc etc etc. Just to see how far down I get before a wolf dies before having pups LMAO

Idea, maybe you could add fish swimming down the smaller streams, or making the wolves able to do emotes while lying down, like the grin or wagging there tail. Also I noticed that you can grab one of your pups and take them across the map and nothing happens, don't know if that's a bug or not but just in case. love the game great job!!!
