Driving Through Iceland is Amazing. Here we give you a few tips for getting gas while you are driving in Iceland. There are a number of attendant-less gas pumps.Which are common in many countries, but we saw many tourists having issues with them in Iceland. You need to use your credit or debit card and put in the amount of money you want to spend. Then if you don't use it all, it will not charge you. If you need the receipt you will need to put your card back in to get the receipt.

Hi. Love your videos. Thanks for all of the helpful information. Just got back to USA from Iceland and wanted to share these tips about buying gas at N1 gas stations. Plan ahead when buying fuel, if half tank, fill up now because fuel stations are sparse around the middle of the country! Bring drinks and snacks in the car. Bring a chip credit card with a pin that works. Rent diesel cars from the airport, diesel is more widely available. Put the black pump handle into your tank, green is gasoline, only 1 octane is available, don’t use the light blue pump it’s for off road diesel. What is super confusing is that there is a picture of a truck on the black hose pump, so you figure your in a car you must want the blue hose pump. Not so! Black is what you want for diesel. Press the UK flag picture button for English. Insert credit card, the machine sucks it in, enter pin. Select amount of fuel you want in Kroner. There is a Full Tank option button. Select pump number. There are numbered stickers on each pump. Stay away from Ad Blue. I believe that is DEF diesel exhaust fluid. Does not go into the diesel fuel tank! Credit card spits out. Wait. Pump turns on by itself. Start pumping. There is no button to start the pump. You are only charged for the fuel you pump. If your credit card does not work, go inside and buy a prepaid card, no extra charge. I hope these tips help. I drove around the pumps and tried 3 different pumps, asked the attendants for help, tried every sequence I could think of until I finally figured it out. So different than USA pumps!

if you want to fill the tank, just put smth like 100€, since it will only charge at the end of the operation,. if you only use lets say 75€ to fill the tank it will charge 75€, so it is atually not that pain in the ass. In portugal we have that too as optional and also if you have "Via Verde", a system that lets you enter and exit the paid highways without stoping and it send you the bill to your mail at the end of the month, this also works on some gas stations

My fiancée and I are going to Iceland this coming September for 7 days and were wondering how much we should budget for gas? I know it's very expensive, but we will have our rental for 7 days and will be driving roughly a mediate of maybe 3 hours a day

Gas was expensive but not crazy expensive like I thought it would be. Felt like it was 20-30% more than in the US.

+Emily James Hi. Emily . i can only speak from my own experience. *location your planing on driving for simple North West and East part of Iceland are mostly hills and alots of fjords so your wasting alot of fuel there. Just be careful driving on road(water on roads) and near rivers and do not cross any rivers on car(besides its an bridge). its typical much raining here alot in September. Also be wint I would recommend 400-500$ max. in budget.

Emily James I just bought 13 liters of diesel for 3000 Iceland Krona. Let’s do the math. That’s $28.23 USD. 5.5 gallons. $5.13 per gallon

You can find this kind of gas stations in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and sometimes in Germany, too.

+Inostrancevia Filme Germany has more staffed gas stations than Scandinavia. In Sweden thousands of staffed gas stations have disappeard since the 1990's. Automated stations like the one in the video are the most common ones.

There's no pay at the pump in America? These are standards on every modern gas bar in Canada.
@woltersworld
@woltersworld 8 жыл бұрын
You pay at the pump yes, but there are no people there. They are just pumps standing in the middle of no where. So if you want to pay cash or have a problem no one is there. I think I should have put in a picture of just the pumps and no station. In the US where we live you can't have pumps without an attendant somewhere near by.
@AD-Dom
