Great review Khoi. Those Wolverines have aged beautifully. I'll be adding a pair from the 1000 mile line to my collection. As you stated, the Iron Rangers are a great alternative due to the durable leather that patinas gracefully.

Nice, I like the cap toe on yours. I got the wolverine artic 1000 also from Nordstrom rack for $240. I normally wear 9 wide but they only came in D width which took alot to break in. After a couple of wears I applied neatsfoot oil which sped up the break in period without changing the color. I haven't used them in the snow with the artic vibram sole because it hasn't snow this year in New York. I love these boots, very masculine!
@gentwithin4 жыл бұрын
i like the cap toe over the plain. is the difference w/the arctic the extra rugged vibram sole? this winter hasn't been much of a winter, not that i'm complaining. agreed, they're very masculine and hard wearing.
@Backtoreality4u4 жыл бұрын
@@gentwithin yes the artic vibram sole has anti slip properties for icy conditions and is much more hearty , more like a timberland sole. That being said after about 6 hours of continuous wear my feet are screaming to take them off. I have worn them roughly 30 times but not all day, usually for 2-4 hours at a time so I hope after a couple dozen more times they start to feel better for longer wear.

sounds pretty rough! but will surely be worth it once they've broken in.

Great review, I love the look of these boots. Quick question; I live in an area with snow and was wondering if you had any experience with them in the snow, mostly for grip and slip issues. The lugs on the sole don't look super rugged but perhaps plenty adequate. If you have any insight, I would love to hear it. Thanks for all the great info.
@gentwithin3 жыл бұрын
thanks man! haven't worn them much in the snow. but have worn them in slick conditions. the lugged sole definitely helps with traction. not the thickest, but certainly adequate

This was Wolverine’s first boot and they come straight out of Rockford Michigan since 1883. I’m living in Michigan now and for 3-5 months out of the year it’s pretty sunny and reliably 60-70 Fahrenheit. Every other time of the year its either raining or snowing in this bitch x) If they’ve been around Rockford for 100+ years I would imagine they hold up to snow pretty well because people around here don’t have time for shitty boots. And one must also remember that the Michigan back country of 1883 was farrr less tame than the semi-urban MI of today. Just bought my pair today so we’ll see how it goes.

I have a pair of the cap toe I walk around in them often to help break them in. I got them last winter so planning to wear them more this season But on size I went a full size down since I have a 10 and they are slightly too big I wear a 10-10.5 usually and got a second pair of 9.5 and now that they’ve stretched a bit they fit nice And I can still wear thicker socks in them without issue

I'm new to boots and I'm looking for boots that would last me forever and are very stylish and versatile. I would like a boot I can dress up a little bit but that is still a rugged boot.I don't have a lot of money, and I fear I might end up buying the wrong ones and I wont be able to buy another pair in a while. Would you say this boots fit the bill?? Btw Great review, new sub.
@gentwithin4 жыл бұрын
hey man, welcome to the wonderful world of boots. i remember when I was just getting into boots. the best fall footwear there is. the 1000 mile would make for a fantastic first boot. you can dress these up a bit, but to an extent. you'll lose the ruggedness with a more sleek/dressier boot like a Taft Rome, although it's best geared for smart casual outfits. alternatively, I feel like the Thursday Captain boot is a great middle ground between rugged and dressy. and it's a good deal more affordable than the 1000 mile. hope this helps!

Sorry you are very wrong on Thorogood being rigged work boots I own two pair both failed in under a year in the exact same way and they are their made in America mock toe boots. I had a third that also failed The hard toe liner they install comes partially loose and jams into your toes being very uncomfortable. None of these were seconds I purchased all three pair at same time because I was offered 50% from manufacturer for being in a union. Reached out to them about these boots and was told no warranty past the one year which all three failed about that time now I do walk a lot but that wasn’t the issue.
