Yeah, it was really cool in the X-Men Origins Wolverine game that charging up the strong attack and using the Rage damage boost kind of referenced the hot claws, if only aesthetically. It's a bit of an odd one-off ability overall, but it's also one that has potential as a game mechanic.

It's more that the claws being part of his gloves were discussed during the character's creation but were instead canonically implanted in him during the adamantium bonding process with his skeleton. It wasn't until the Fatal Attraction arc when Magneto ripped his adamantium out that his backstory got changed so that his claws were always bone and just coated with adamantium.

@wintertrooper7918 In Hulk #181 it's never definitively stated whether they're part of his gloves or part of his body. In X-Men #98, roughly 1.5 years after his debut, we learn that the claws are part of him when he pops them without the gloves on for the first time.
@conduit64
@conduit64 Ай бұрын
@@wintertrooper7918 This is not true. The idea is based on a misunderstanding of an interview with Len Wein the writer who created the character. Wein said he considered the idea of the claws being part of the gloves but ultimately decided against it because he realized anyone could put on the gloves and become Wolverine. So the intent for the character from time of first publication was that Wolverine's claws were part of his body.

After the glove idea was scrapped the claws were instead installed by Weapon X. You can find old trading cards and visual aid books that show artifical sheaths for the claws built into his forearms. The cylinders you used to see on his hands were Silicone plugs designed to keep the holes in his hands closed to prevent debris and infection from going inside when the claws were sheathed.

That is why concluded stories, akin to Boys, Irredeemable, E.V.I.L. Heroes and concluded Mangas (Attack on Titan, etc) are just superior. No ret-cons, no power scaling issues.

Him making his claws hot just makes no sense as the adamantium limits his mutant abilities
@DoggosintheHouse

The idea of the mechanical adamantium claws being added surgically made much more sense than the retconned "bone claws" that magically retract into his body, which are idiotic. Logan was surgically enhanced. Why not just leave it with that? Why try to rewrite the character? He was more interesting before new writers started dreaming up stupid new powers.

They don't 'magically retract' his claws are sheathed in his forearms when he unsheaths them they follow a pre determined path through his hands and out if he loses his hand with the claws sheathed he still has the claws

The hot claws where actually invented to make the comics more suitable for younger audiences by cauterisation of all of the inflicted wounds meaning that there would be no blood

Not gonna lie being able to heat his claws is pretty cool, especially if it came with a trade off like tiring him out or temporarily nerfing his healing. Kinda wished they did this with more of his abilities (imagine being able to buff his strength, speed, reflexes, etc. by super charging his healing)

There was actually 2 retcons about his claws There's the retcon shown in the video But the second is that Logan's claws are part of his mutation (the claws used to be an mechanical implant that he got during his time in the Weapon X program)

Wolverine’s claws like him were in a constant state of development in the beginning of the character’s existence for several years. People who don’t know Wolverine’s history and character development from the beginning don’t know the real story, but only bits and pieces of what others find interesting. Wolverine was a one off character who was originally never meant to live past Hulk #181. He barely had a concept though of, they did loosely based him being a mutant Wolverine but don’t even have time to decide either he was a man who mutated into a Wolverine or a Wolverine who mutated into a man. This was when the mutant factor of marvel was starting to really kick-in. Since they hadn’t planned on him to be a long lived character they didn’t sweat any of the characters details. So when Hulk #180 released with the full page cameo teaser of Wolverine on it for the next month’s episode. It peaked everyone’s interest. The calls and questions coming into marvel about this new character had everyone asking could this guy actually really take on the Hulk by himself! The interesting in that one cameo was enough to change Wolverine’s path. Now having Wolverine fight both Hulk and Wendigo at the same time pretty much cemented his character as being a new long mainstay in Marvel from then on out. Because marvel left his ending open and the fans demanded they wanted more of him. So, the short one off character development now came to bite them in the and details of how he came to be and how things worked had to be hash out. The glove idea was one of them. So, the possibility he was a mutant Wolverine who mutated into a man. But neither of those few or stuck in the drawing room. He was kept with always having them apart of himself. Now, because of his memory issue he always thought that the claws were added to him by Weapon X. Their was an in Advengers or X-men that Cap and then Logan form Canadian Special Forces. Teamed up to save then a young Black Widow from. Zume and the Germans, in which Logan use steel climbing claws that are longer than his own and he remarks how nice they work for him. This was a flash back episode for Cap of WWII. So, no the gloved claw were concept of how he work physically after he became a line up character instead of a one off character, but never a retro fit or his claw are fake. That the glove were just a concept during a meeting of the comic book writers minds to flush out an unexpected success that was Wolverine.

The way I remember it, they were still in the creation phase of Wolverine when they scrapped the detachable claws. They determined that anyone could put them on and diminish the uniqueness of Wolverine using them. I remember them being part of his body ever since Hulk 180-181. Of course they have retconned so much about him this last decade or so that his name isn't even really Logan anymore and he has a dumb, too blatantly animalistic last name of Howlett. Despite the work and dedication of Prof X and the fans, they changed him. Despite his being alive way into the future, they killed him.

Ohhh....🤔 In "X-men Origins: Wolverine (2009)" movie remember that horrible Deadpool design who had laser beamed eyes? In the final scene Wolverine and Sabertooth were fighting together against Deadpool and Deadpool was about to kill/throw off Sabertooth 🤔 but before that Deadpool used his laser beam on Wolverine's claws and his claws became super charged heat claws...Wolverine used those heat claws and cut off Deadpool's head from his body but still Deadpool's laser beam eyes didn't stop and blah blah.... It was a reference from this? 🤔 [Except that Deadpool design everything else were perfect in that movie btw. I don't hate it]

It’s was not really added due to popularity. And just a few issues after his creation. Basically one of the creators left and the new one had this idea about the claws and added them. Due to sync problem between major issues and side issues actually there was issues after the skeleton claws reveal where he still used his gloved
