You are so right, I was so tired of this mindless wolverine that I was glad to see him die. When he died I thought, "finally they can stop ruining his image, and hopefully someone that knows how to bring him back to his old days will come along". He went from being a *master* at hand to hand combat and tactics, also while struggling to be a better man and mentor, to just a raging "rwar rwar" damage sponge maniac.
@OceansOfMotionStudios8 жыл бұрын
I actually didn't mind it. It makes sense that he decided to simply not care. All Logan does is go though pain. Anybody in his shoes would do the same. If you're always seen as nothing but a beast even when you spend the majority of your life trying to disprove exactly that then eventually you'd give into it. Wolverine was made into a weapon and that's what he embraced. In this regard it relates to exactly what was stated about Old Man Logan. Every where he goes death follows so him still being young (at least compared to his new counterpart) he lashes out and does one of the only things he knows how, what he's best at. Wolverine has always been a tragic hero and him giving into the more beastial side, him preferring solitude, him going berserk and turning people into mince meat holds a meaning. I loved the death of Wolverine to pieces because even in the first issues his monologue hits home. He talks about being tired. By the end if the story we get to truly see him get peace through death.

Rob, come on man "Mindless Killing machine", I was big "wolverine and the x-men" fan and took up the mantle of Charles Xavier dream of Mutant and Human peaceful coexistence with the Jean Grey School for The Gifted. While Cyclops Killed Xavier became magneto. Logan changed and became a leader and mentor quagmire quire. He had relationship with storm and was more and more trying to be like Xavier. That's why his death was super tragic, he never got the chance to live his new life. His past came back and killed home in the end. Wolverine was on a big character arch, but jealous. Whining haters kept whining to editors "too much wolverine" .

Wolverine is probably my favorite comic book character of all time along with Spiderman. I hope the direction they're going with this with him embracing his life of chaos and being a ravaged mutant full of wisdom will lead to Wolverine finally going over his most powerful peers like the Hulk Thor and Strange and being on the level of cosmic entities. Now let me explain for this to happen I'd like for the writers to connect his pasts like the times he was nearly dead and came back to life, when he was appointed as the Horseman of Death by Apocalypse, having been in contact and surviving the Phoenix Force, and quite possibly meeting the soul of 616 James Howlett that has died and somehow fusing with him and having all these events cause Death to take notice of Logan but not as a love interest like she has for Dead Pool but fear that Logan could have the potential to replace her as the embodiment of death. I really think this would be an awesome idea. I mean having Death being killed off is unthinkable but Logan could pull it off and she'll feel threatened so she uses Dead Pool and Thanos to try and stop Logan but eventually both will fail stopping a now more Kratos like Wolverine and in which Logan replaces the Marvel Universe's Death. In turn he is at his peace with his new role in the Marvel Universe. This opens up so many doors for Marvel. X-23 would truly be the sole Wolverine. Thanos could have his sights on other things having lost Death. Dead Pool can now die. It is also a way for one of Marvel's most beloved characters in Logan to live on forever.
@Sully30008 жыл бұрын
its an interesting idea. I'd love to see this wolverine meet or talk with the 616 wolverine, but as for them fusing...Naahhh. let old man logan be old man logan and 616 logan be just 616 logan. But the idea of him killing death is intriguing since he's embracing chaos.

I'd really be interested on a series about the artists behind comic books. I collected them when I was young, and the artwork was probably my favorite aspect. Back then Todd McFarlane was redefining everything. Brian Bolland's Killing Joke was pretty amazing. You had the fully painted comic books that were the showstoppers, though: the Havok and Wolverine 4 issue mini series, Black Orchid was a favorite, but the coolest book that I can recall was the Arkham Asylum graphic novel. Dave McKean's work was unlike anything I had ever seen. Thanks for the truly fantastic videos, bro!
@morlath47677 жыл бұрын
I love this video, I love all aspects of Logan, there's only one slight issue in how you've spoken about this brilliant comic. You actually say that Logan ended up being a bringing of death (a "mindless killer") and that's part of why people weren't sad about him getting killed off. Yet the magic of ANAD Old Man Logan 2 is that Old Logan throws himself directly into that mindset.

OML is a gem, a masterpiece of comics. It took the post-apocalyptic setting and threw a broken, asskicking, lonely, senior mutant on a journey of self realization. Living on while all others have long perished, can't imagine the feeling. Speaks volumes of humanity's drive for survival, and perseverance through trials and tribulations, the spirit is hard to break, the soul impossible to get rid of.

Which comic do I need to pick up to start on the Old Man Logan story? Are they all written by Jeff, I can't spell his last name.
@justinkroboth3606 жыл бұрын
Mark Millar did the original setup of Old Man Logan, the one that shows his life with his wife and children, living under the thumb of the Banner/Hulk clan - that's where you should start. And then Jeff Lemire does this one. There's a tie-in to Hickman's Secret Wars that was done, I think, by Brian Michael Bendis.

Old Man Logan brought me back to collecting reading comics. I,once again, believe in my anti-hero. I became a huge wolverine fan post fatal attractions. I felt like logan losing his adamantium, made him more human, gave him a vulnerability. With his healing factor on the ropes arms bandaged up, he rode his Harley through a gauntlet of villians. However, this direction for the character seemed to grow old and after Generation Next and Age of Apocalypse I began to see the character deevolve into some killing beast that couldnt even hold conversations w other xmen. I quit collecting shortly after that. Brian Singers effect rippled into the comics and aesthetically the xmen put on leather costumes wolverine had greased back hair, a five o clock shadow wife beater and leather pants. It was not the wolverine i remember. Joss Whedon changed that. brought back classic looks to the team, and once afgain i seemed to be vaguely interested in wolverine. I felt like JW wrote him in a way that was very one demensional, but then again i also realized he was just a part of the team, not the star. Unfortunatly for the years to follow he became the star, not just in xmen books but in about 30 books. It was over saturation. I was over the character. It was nice to see Hugh Jackman play wolverine. Although i never felt like it was a true depiction of the character. Mark Millars Wolverine: Old Man Logan was a very nice break from what wolverine had become. The story had depth, character. A begginning middle and end. It was very satisfying. All New All Different OML enriches that character. I love where the writer is going with this. As an older guy now i get the sense that my character has grown up as well.

This was incredible! I know that it's coming and I am weary of when he meets the newly reformed Sabretooth. Will they finally truce, or will their feud pick up where Logan and Victor can piece together? He's estranged from X-23, and she has become him in her own right. With the three of them in this one universe now, on the X-Men, what WOULD be best between the three? I honestly want them to be a new X-Force team, but I'm torn between what would be greater. Logan being their ally, or enemy? More importantly, what off-the-wall writers, decide the opposite of expectation, and how beneficial will it be?
@nicop29688 жыл бұрын
Old Man Logan is way easier to empathize with as he is very human in his guilt and his (lack of) ways of coping with his situations after he murdered his friends and set his reality on the course to ruin, but that being said I think Old Man Logan is way cooler because of this. As you mentioned, Rob, Wolverine before he got encased was basically just a..weapon, a tool, a plot device even because he can't die and basically can destroy anything tangible with his claws so it comes down to, like, Wolverine is your favorite kitchen knife if you're a chef or your favorite tool if you are a carpenter or mechanic where as Old Man Logan is like your favorite guitar, both serve a purpose and both can create things but one has more depth in it's base form rather than in it's creation/actions.

I say Old Man Logan has the edge over the main 616 Wolverine is that Logan comes with the baggage of an entire alternate timeline universe that not only includes his Weapon X but also the war of united villains destroying his universe. It gives writers a whole new Avenue of storytelling in that sense but Lemire is an amazing writer. Go check out his Outsider War run in Green Arrow in the New 52. Solid stuff

I cannot choose between original Logan and Old man Logan. Wolverine has always been my favorite character. However, this story hit the nail on the head. Wolverine, no matter where or when he is, is an agent of Chaos. Everything close to him dies or is taken away, yet he keeps plugging on. He never stops, never quits, and when the shit hits the fan, he is always there to bring the doom. I'm kind of relieved that the original Logan died a good death, and they haven't brought him back. But I'm always hoping in the back of my mind that some creative writer finds a way to bring back our Canucklehead. Everyone else gets a free death or 10, when is his time?
