A shining beacon during a dark age in Michigan football. Although not a traditional Michigan quarterback, what other Michigan quarterback in history could make a contribution to his team with a defunct throwing arm? His attitude and Michigan spirit will truly be missed. Thank you for choosing Michigan Denard.

This was around when I started watching football. While we didn't win many games, I'm not gonna lie, this offense was so much fun to watch. I miss turning on the TV each Saturday waiting to see what heisman moments Denard would have next. It was what we all had to look forward to during the recession in Flint, where there was not much else to do. Watching football now, I realize that there are very few that can do what Shoelace did. I was lucky to be able to watch him for 4 years, and he actually had a great career if you think about it. He beat Michigan State, Ohio State (scoring 5 TDs), Notre Dame (coming back from 17) won a BCS Bowl, and set all kinds of records. Great player and great person to represent U of M, guys like him don't come every year.

His arm wasn’t great - but he had tremendous faith in his receivers. Just throw it up and let them make plays - and they often did. On short yardage plays, he was a sure thing. You couldn’t stop him on 3rd and 2 or less. Always fun to watch - never go pee when we had the ball.

Because a lot of those were losses. The defense struggled. And the offensive gameplan was Denard. If we had even more of an O-line, had other strong running options, and had a defense that was capable of multiple stops that Michigan team could have won a few championships.

I thought his sophomore season, his very first season starting, he had a pretty good arm. He could make just about any throw you'd need him too,it was just the decision making that killed him as a QB. He'd toss up too many jump balls, and once in a while throw an interception that left you pullling your hair out asking yourself, who was that too? Great player though, no doubt about it. We needed a playmaker on this team, and he brought exactly that. In the NFL just let this kid get the ball
