Eddie has had a year of working with Tonali every day and every international break. He's clearly fit Italy have shown that and he's 100 levels above longstaff. Bring him off if he's tired late on but to start Longstaff would be a joke!

Longy 100% starts. Maybe not in place of tonali and it's not because he's better than him or Bruno. The smart thing to do is play longy who's played very well so far this season. Energetic and throwing his body about to win the ball back. I suspect Bruno or tonali will start on bench and will come on when need be. Probably tonali because Bruno makes us tick however it depends who's had more minutes and travelled further. It's wolves btw not man city. The smart thing to do is not risk our most valuable players because the fans want him to start

Great discussion as always. My feeling is Eddie will start with Tripps because he has had 2 weeks coaching. Agree Tino is the future but he is still learning .

I agree 100% with John’s logic on starting Tonali ahead of Longstaff, and Barnes ahead of Miggy and Murphy. Indeed, I think that these sorts of decisions will go a long way to determining how we fare this season. Imo, Eddie needs to clearly distinguish between his best / starting XI players (which I believe clearly includes Tonali and Barnes), from his totally necessary but nonetheless limited squad players (which I believe includes Miggy, Murphy, Krafth etc). For me, although I lean towards the young guns, in truth I think it’s still too early to say with any real confidence who should start in our full back positions (Hall or Kelly, or Livramento or Trippier), and while we gather more data on that score as the games accrue, it may be best to run with a “horses for courses” approach.

Getting results when playing below par is a good sign. That being said have to start playing better for linger periods etc

Regarding who starts out of Tonali or Longstaff we'd all love to see Tonali start, nobody is doubting that Tonali is a world class midfielder who is streaks ahead of Longstaff, and once he gets his first start he's never coming out of that side, but I agree with Andrew - for now I think he'll start Longstaff and keep drip feeding Tonali more and more minutes from the bench. Yes Tonali had two starts for Italy in the Nations League but Nations League games are pretty much glorified friendlies, they don't come close to the intensity of a Premier League game, and Eddie is doing the right thing by bedding him back in to Premier League football carefully and methodically like he did with Bruno...and look at how important Bruno is to our starting 11 now!

Great stuff lads but another point to consider is that three games starting in short succession for Tonali might trigger injury

We need to stop talking in terms of 1st choice & 2nd choice, we need Trips & Livramento to both rotate & play games this season, I would rest Livramento & rest Bruno this time- our squad can easily beat Wolves & we need fresh players & no injuries in the group

Tonali should start, You mentioned Barnes and Gordon switching sides watching the game against Spurs it didn't happen once, the game was crying out for it, So let's see what happens against wolves if there both play

Spurs wasn’t really a test ? Really ? If we play like that against Man City we’ll be spanked. On Sunday I’d play 4-3-3, Pope Trippier Schar Burn Kelly Tino Tonali Hall J Murphy Isak Gordon Despite the media bigging him up , Bruno has been poor for club and country and the midfield in general has failed to protect the defence and supply the attack .

Wolves first 2 games arsenal away and Chelsea home. Good 1 and half game very poor 2and half against Chelsea. Fabio not 1 of our better players. We didn't play him because he is terrible and no one wants him apart from lone.Last game was forest and draw like Newcastle did.I expect wolves to get 1st win as Newcastle are over confident.
