I think it's misleading to describe women's behavior is 'irrational' or 'illogical'. Women are actually very logical and straight forward. Almost disappointingly so. I'll give an example, a female friend of mine in college was a 6 or a 7 but had a great personality. She wasn't a show stopper, but she was smart and interesting. Like I said, great personality, that's why I liked her as a friend. Well she was constantly rolling in guys hitting on her. I mean 7 or 8 guys at a time. So a guy would ask her out, make plans for a Friday. But then a guy she liked better would ask her out, so the needle she had to thread was backing out of the plans with the first guy, while also keeping him somewhat interested in case the guy she was going to go out with wasn't a long term opportunity. So she'd make something up. Something about studying or an assignment. All of this would be last minute, leaving the first guy high and dry. She'd go out with the hotter guy, often hookup up with him. Then after not hearing from that hot guy, she'd nudge the guy she stood up, because she wasn't going to be stuck at home on a Friday, when she could have a guy take her out. So she'd guilt him about him not putting in effort even though she bailed on him last minute. To the guy, she seemed flakey, one minute being interested, the next canceling plans. If a guy gets too close, she could tell him she didn't see him like that one week, but then tell him she was starting to thinking about him romantically the next. It actually is all very straight forward if you think about it. She wants the best option when it's available and she wants to keep her back up options putting in effort in case her preferred option is talking to another girl. If she finds a back up guying is talking to other girls she dumps him because she wants loyal back up guys. Basically she's just going to do what she thinks is the most fun and her best option and she will tell whatever story she needs to keep the other guys hanging around. It isn't confusing at all. It's more just dishonest. She says enough to keep the guys chasing and juggles them based on keeping her schedule full. She even did this when she had a longer term boyfriend. If a really hot guy asked her out, she'd put her boyfriend on ice and sleep with the really hot guy. Our friendship started to wane as I didn't see her as particularly ethical. But she told me she wanted to maximize her college experience and that she was planning on breaking up with her boyfriend after senior year anyway but she wanted to be remembered as this great college girlfriend, not a girl who broke a guys heart. So she kept her boyfriend around. Like I said, she was always just maximizing what she wanted and was happy to lie and make up excuses and stories to suit her ever changing opportunities.
