A pregnant woman, wounded by gunfire, delivers her baby in the ambulance of Firehouse 51.

even trained civilians are proffered not to stop unless they have someone to take over or are really too exhausted, you can even be asked to keep going after the paramedics are there so they can prep the equipment and stuff

The baby made it and the girls got to see him in the hospital nursery, but it was never mentioned as to whether relatives took custody or if he was sent to a foster family.

I honestly only clicked because I thought the EMT got shot and STILL helped deliver a baby - THAT is at least compelling .... but no... woman casually laying down, propped up on elbows (but shot in shoulder?), no bystanders anywhere near her, and a baby born ... all in a minute.

And that "I tried CPR for 20 seconds, only pushed halfway with no rhythm or strength at all. I'm exhausted and covered in a light layer of sweat. I give up. It's no use. She's gone." is why I stopped watchig this show. I don't expect reality from a TV show, but a little common sense couldn't hurt.

They called another ambulance to come to them and help. Since time was running out, they wanted the other EMT/paramedic to be able to find them quickly, and they both had to tend to mom and baby. So it saves time for everyone just to leave the doors open.

The baby ends up alive in the hospital with complications. They found the father and he ends up at Chicago med with his son. His on will go home with him when the son can.
