I've heard of Litvak before in Yiddish folk tales. Accoring to Google, Litvak has multiple meanings, including a Jewish ethnic group, a Yiddish dialect, and a surname: Jewish ethnic group Litvaks are Jews with origins in the former Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which included parts of modern-day Lithuania, Belarus, and Ukraine. The term can also refer to Haredi Jews who follow an Ashkenazi style of life and learning. The word "Litvak" comes from the Slavic name for Lithuania, "Litva".

I've googled the Oldenburg people. Both Sergei's have each their own pages in the Russian wiki. The older one, the one who stayed in Russia, led the Russian academy of sciences until 1929, died in 1934 and wasn't even repressed, only briefly arrested and released by the plea of Maxim Gorky. The Oldenburg dynasty are a massive dynasty of which the late Romanovs were a part.

I need to have someone look at my family tree. My mom discovered that we are related to Queen Elizabeth 2, Princess Diana and about 5 other famous people. Also I'm descended from someone who was on the Mayflower. All from 1 line, my great great grandmother Eva Bell Perkins

My dad did a DNA test & he is 1c4r from Daniel Boone and also 3c2r from Pres Abraham Lincoln. He never knew any of this. I remember my grandmother saying they were Welsh from the south (Kentucky).

Virtually everyone with European ancestry descends from royalty; it is just a matter of degree, and how far back. We may not have the records to prove it though, and most are not "legitimate" descendants. For example, it is a statistical probability that nearly everyone alive today with British ancestry, is descended from Edward III.

As a long-time amateur genealogist, I was horrified when he told Julie there was no record of the sailor who never came home and that the obvious answer is that he died, while working in a mine. Seriously??? Totally guessing is the way to do genealogy now?? Not in my book. Done watching this show.
