It actually works. Every dog I've had in my life were strays that I took in off the streets. All of them learned to trust me by first trusting the dog or dogs I already had. Then as time went by, they eventually trusted me, and thru me, the rest of my family.

Thats how ive gotten most of my cats! A few years back I saved a kitten that was outside walmart. We guessed it was abandoned there. Only a year and a half at most, pregnant, and had glass in their paw. We got them treated, they safely had their kittens, and eventually we were able to foster them all out 💕

Whilst I don't think they actually have a conversation, you're not far wrong! I have brought many untouchable street dogs into my home. When the new dog sees me interact and cuddle and tummy rub with my other dogs you can see the light bulb moment in them. They realise that there is something good here. Dogs help other dogs heal more quickly than a lone human ever could. Street dogs don't understand what humans want from them. But they can read the body language of other dogs. Rehabilitating dogs is a hundred times easier with other, happy, confident dogs around them.

Patience and persistence can reap bigger rewards than one can imagine. I've seen it with horses as well as with dogs. I suspect the same approach would work with damaged humans, but we as a species seem unwilling to go that extra mile for people. Loners weren't born loners. They were damaged somewhere along the line and their trust in people evaporated. Whether abused, ignored, bullied or otherwise hurt, they need that same kind of dedication to healing Hollee demonstrates here. Luna is a totally different dog than she was. And one person made that happen. Hollee makes this a better world, and I wish we could clone her.

There is nothing more rewarding than adopting a stray animal. A few years ago, I was around twelve or thirteen, I took to trying to feed a few of the stray cats in our neighbourhood and within a few months I suddenly had seven cats that loved to be pet, that I could play with and that really enriched my life at the time!

I had a similar story with a couple of stray dogs at an electrical substation I was guarding in El Paso when I worked for Securitas. For a little over a year, there were these dogs that just lived at the site. We would get stray dogs there all the time so we just kept an eye on the local FB page for lost dogs and for 'Lost' pictures as normal (we had just gotten a big dog back with his family a few weeks back after July 4th), but none came up. So after a few weeks of tossing them parts of our meals, we just brought in a few dog bowls and started feeding the dogs kibble. After that, the dogs started coming right up to the guard shack. A few weeks later and the dogs were going around on patrol with the guard on duty and sticking in the shack with the guards. It broke my heart to leave them behind when I got new employment after El Paso Electric went to security cameras rather than security guards, but I learned a few weeks later from the one guard who was kept around for access control that EP Electric knew about what we had done with the dogs and both of them were adopted by some of the linemen who came in there to work, since the guards were no longer always around to watch after them.
