The only thing I disagree with is, "She is learning to be a dog." She is learning to be a pet, she knew how to survive as a dog. This young women did an outstanding job in acclimating Molly to a different way of life...
@Incompetences
@Incompetences 2 жыл бұрын
I had an issue with that as well, but the more I thought about it it makes sense because she was talking about her behavior around other dogs and how she was copying behaviors. I have a feeling because this dog was so alienated from other dogs, she meant 'learning to be a dog' as more of an aspect of finally being around other dogs and having proper friendships and happiness.

Yes, but I'm sure the dog is experiencing love and joy for the first time. She was feral but she is a domesticated breed, it's better for her this way. She's not a wild wolf with a pack to go to.

Not really, dogs are still wolves at heart. They aren't goats or cows or chicken for goodness sake. And they 'don't have" to be around humans to survive. She knew how to be a dog. Looked way better and fitter. Now she is just chonky and a slave. Yeahwhen she met the woman she became happier by meeting a friend. She didn't need to be indoors. Leaving her in her backyard and front yard would've been the best. Essentially we want to own them and not befriend them. Her earlier relationship with the woman was the best. Where she still had her semblance of freedom but still chose to stick around on her own terms but now she is like a fat, dancing, brain washed circus clown. I always want my dogs to retain their wild instincts, obey my commands out of respect, and still be able to look after themselves even if I am not around and dead. So that they can survive if they get lost in the woods. Don't make them.into.cows or chickens. That's just sad. I mean don't humanize them.and make them forget who they are

This reminds me a bit of a dog my uncle had. He was rescued when he was just a puppy, dehydrated and barely able to move. When they took him to the vet they said he probably wouldn't make it, and that if he did, he wouldn't last long. My uncle decided to take care of him anyway, regardless of the survival odds, and that decision saved his life. However, when he started getting healthier, we realized what awful experiences he had went though. He didn't like humans or dogs, and if you got too close to him he would start growling until you left. He had obviously been abused by whoever took care of him before we found him. My uncle didn't gave up though. After a few months, he would accept you to be near him (no petting trough) and wouldn't growl at the other two dogs we had. My uncle lives in the countryside, with a very large garden, so at least he had a lot of places to explore and run, and we believe that helped him to get better. A few more months, and he would accept pets and would (sometimes) wag his tail at you. That was basically a miracle for us. Still, he would never became a lap dog or anything. He didn't follow any orders and just liked to do his own thing, but that's exactly why we loved him. He loved receiving pets, but only when no one else was watching. And time passed by. We just thought that the scars from his past would never heal completely, and that he would remain a grumpy doggo for the rest of his life. But we were so wrong. As he started becoming older (and therefore more frail and sickly) he started to look for pets and would sit near you waiting for you to brush his hair. That became his favourite thing. He would let you brush his tail, his chest, and belly, all while closing his eyes in a expression we had never seen before. We were impressed. It was as if the grumpy and angry man suddenly turned into a loving grandpa. And when my uncle's daughter was born, he turned into the sweetest thing ever. He was so kind with her. He would still spend time alone, but to us it was an absolute change. Then he developed arthritis and other illnesses, but he would remain joyful and peacefu, like he didn't care about his body not being at its best. And then, last winter, he got very sick. It was so bad he couldn't stand up. We were no vets, but we knew perfectly from the look on his eyes that he was suffering and that it was time to say goodbye. We all cried so much when he left us. He was just to unique, the type of dog so easy to love regardless of his flaws or perks. Rest well, Guaipe.

Dude, she was ready to be “caught” months before you snagged her. I’m saying this because she was clearly showing signs of trust, and waiting could have meant someone shooting her, or getting hit by a car. I say this as someone who raised a feral dog, you have to do it sooner rather than later. This isn’t to diminish what this lady did, just saying you have to work quick, because monsters - whether human or something like cancer, can work faster.

Every feral dog isn’t the same. That’s for any animal honestly. She couldn’t fit the whole experience in a 5 minute video. I’m sure she tried things that helped her assess where the dog was that and that’s why she took it slow. She did what was best for the dog and it worked out fine. I’ve seen videos where there were signs of trust on the dogs behalf but one small thing ruined it and the dog fled or the process regressed because of it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

"She was really protective of me" and with good reason because you basically are as good as a God to her. Saved her from being hungry and cold in a yard, brought her food every day, introduced her to air conditioning and comfort like this poor girl had never seen before! To a dog, that is Godly!

This dog definitely has Akita in her - they don't trust people and as a result - it does take time for them to "trust". That is why she stayed at the home - waiting at the end of the drive. Very typical of the dog. The good news she is a mixed breed and that helps. I had a mixed Akita and she was the BEST dog ever - now have a full Akita and that is a whole different dog!

I'm pretty sure she's a Jindo. Jindos are a Korean breed that is well known for being very loyal. Only accepting 1 owner their whole life, making it very difficult or at times even impossible for them to get adopted by new owners. Which is probably why she took a while to get used to her new life.

@@dkim931 wild dogs in Africa aren't a domesticated species. They're actually wild animals, and not really 'dogs.' But you know what kind of dogs this works on? Hyenas. I really recommend you lock one in a small, enclosed area like the woman in the video, Mr. Literal, and try sweet talking it. You can post right here and let me know how it goes, 'k? Sheesh I bet you're fun at parties, huh? I bet half your conversations start with, 'Well, actually...' * eye roll *

She seems to be a Jindo mix - Korean breed - they are extremely loyal, bred as guard dogs that lived in the front yard. They are excellent hunters and would catch birds, field mouse and leave it at your door as a gift. Extremely loyal, perhaps where they found her was where her owners used to live.
