We caught a ladybug once for a school project. After we were done with the project, we released her. But when I was cleaning her little enclosure, I found eggs on the underside of leaves!! It became a long project for us. We did a lot of research. The eggs hatched and I caught Aphids from the garden to feed the little babies that looked like little ants. Once they grew to little caterpillar size, we released them in our rose bushes. It was hard taking care of 35-40 babies but it’s an experience that’ll stay with us forever

Noticed sime punctured cocoons and realized they were being predated upon by tiny wasp like insect that use them as food for their young from inside out. .So i ended up taking as much of them caterpillars inside and kept feeding them with the same leaves until they cocooned and turned into butterflies to be released back outside.

I like that she noticed the little bug, and decided to help. I put out a bird bath every day when it gets warm. I even put out a small plate with marbles in it so the insects don't drown trying to get some water. I read about doing that a few years ago. Before, I was always picking dead yellow jackets , bees, even some small flies out of the bird bath. This year there were only three that drowned over the whole season. I have "rescued" several over the past seasons. It feels nice when you can save them. Silly as they are wasps and pests. But I guess they deserve to live their lives too. Great ladybug.

I have a story of my own that happened about 4 years ago. I was working at Lowes, and had to use the restroom. While I was washing my hands, I noticed a bee struggling to fly or to move. I knew it would be killed if I ignored it. I got some soft toilet paper, and waited till I was the only one there, then scooped up the bee and made a cocoon for it. There wasn't any green grass or trees near our store, so I took it over to the indoor plants and put it on a flower petal. It fell right off onto its back, struggling. I picked it back up, and found a small unused box with cotton at the bottom and put Mr. Bee onto it. I checked on it through out my shift. It seemed tired and didnt move much. I took it home with me, and thought all day what to do for it. I had some honey, and put some on a small plate and mixed it with warm water, and put Mr. Bee in front of it. To my surprise, it stuck it's little antennae? Into it and drank it all. So I gave it some more. After about 8 minutes of this, it suddenly opened its wings and flew around my kitchen! My cat saw it, and started tracking it. Uh oh. I opened the box, and Im not kidding you, Mr. Bee flew right in and settled on the cotton. I found a small medicine pill cap from a bottle and put more honey and water in it inside of the box. I closed the box and went to bed. I got up first thing in the morning and immediately checked on the bee. It flew out, and buzzed around my head, then back into the box. I think it knew I was there to protect it and help it. It was a warm sunny morning, and I took the box out into the warm grassey yard, opened the box, and the bee flew up, to my left, paused, and flew right back to me, and hovered right above me for what seemed like an eternity. I told Mr. Bee thank you for trusting me, and to live a happy life, and God bless you till we meet again. It flew off, a happy little bee. I know it is a snall thing, but is something Ill never forget. Im happy to know there are others besides myself who will take time to save even the smallest of living things.
