It feels good to help, even just to talk to someone... I spoke to a 21 year old who was addicted to crack, and his friend came soon who he was waiting for and that friend was addicted to fentanyl. They lost a friend the day prior to me meeting them... overdose. I spoke with them for 45 minutes and I sense that I had a profound impact on them, even though I myself am an alcoholic and on the verge of homelessness. I've been on that verge for months now. Being Canadian is NOT fun anymore... There are people who would benefit from having you in their life, and people who you would benefit from having them in your life. There is a strong temptation to just stay home, I personally barely ever leave. Just to go out for booze and food, that's just about it. I work from home online. My 'daily commune' to 'work' is trudging in the morning from where I sleep to where my computer is. But almost every time I leave home, I find an opportunity to try a conversation with someone, and it is common for it to go on for a half-hour or up to two hours. Frankly, I am unkempt, I LOOK homeless even though I am not homeless even though I HAVE been homeless in the past, but people shake my hand and smile and thank me. There is an epidemic of loneliness, I see the struggle on people's faces and they light up just for someone giving the time of day to LISTEN and to reply thoughtfully and honestly.

My dad was a nyc cop, I was 10 years old and went to Manhattan for a school field trip. Unbeknownst to me he called my school, worked things out and right before I would go onto the boat to see Ellis island, he had 4 officers approach me, put me in cuffs and put me in the back of what I think was a Capri vehicle. I was so upset, I looked up at the officer driving, he turned his head and said "oh hey son". He then drove us to a restaurant to have lunch and was laughing about what he pulled off haha. I didn't get to see Ellis island but it was a great memory ill always remember of my dad....

LOL. Well, in my State, you had to give you weight when you got your first driver’s license and it stayed on the license with each renewal. 30 yrs after i was 16, it still showed the same weight. I got challeneged more than once about it. ‘You don’t weigh 119 lbs!! what do you really weigh? I Never told anyone , even my husband.. Asking a Lady what she weighs is extremely Rude .
