Touch move should always be expected when the rules are not mentioned. Clock move must be declared before the game because it is a more lenient rule. Or why do you think players say “adjust” before touching a piece without moving it…? Nemo should have gracefully accepted a loss in the last game.

@@adamcrapple6089 The clock move rule has already been declared before the game started. The video has been edited so that you just see the games. Furthermore every opponent has been touching the clock so there really is no excuse to change at any moment to touch move.

@@kevinblackkk6945 That's doesn't mean anything. If it wasn't clear that touch move was the rule, then it's not the rule. She allowed another player to "fix" an illegal move (moving a queen diagonally, he ended up on a different color square) which she didn't immediately say "illegal move, I won". He was a dick to toss the pieces as soon as he decided it was touch move rules. He could have warned her and said, let's make it touch move from here forward, since it clearly wasn't clear!

@@pa-mo She's the GM, so she is the one that has something to prove, not the others (whom are mostly unrated). So, even if it wasn't explicitly said, she should have not given her opponents any excuse. And, in fact, you can see she is playing with that idea through all the matches, never releasing the piece before committing, never touching a piece and moving another before clock is touched. Finally, also consider that even if touch-move was explicitly said, a well respected GM would always let a very low(er) rated opponent redo its move

I watch chess, I don't play and I don't know how man/woman rankings work. Man/man or man/woman or woman/woman games used to have the understanding that men and woman like exclusive clubs or events. I've played coed softball, it's an unwritten rule you don't destroy a female catcher diving into home base. It's legal, not at all proper. In the games presented here men accepted a female challenger. If it were a men's cigar smoking club they may not have. On the question of being rude; chess is a nasty game. Whatever your outward appearance you need cold calculating heart to play this game. It shows in rudeness.

There is no such thing as a “men’s grandmaster”, just Grandmaster, which people of any gender can achieve. Titles with “woman” in them are entirely separate titles, achievable at lower ratings than their genderless counterparts, invented to encourage more women to advance in chess, much like women only tournaments and women’s awards. Whether the women specific titles and tournaments are helping or hindering the push to close the gender gap in chess is a hotly debated topic with no clear answer, but that’s the way it is right now.

17:40 Has it really always been clock-move instead of touch-move? If there hasn’t been any take backs (before hitting the clock) in other games this statement makes no sense… Would have been more pleasant to end this video with a respectful loss, than a sore win.

Indeed. Plus they both were clearly careful and focused on not letting it go of the piece before they sure it was the right square. It would have been better and more graceful for her to just accept the loss; mistakes happen, no one would have criticized her for that... but instead, what what happened, is just shameful and hard to watch

TOUCH MOVE! That's the RULE in the GAME. You touch the pawn and then you return it. You loose the game aka Nemsko. Please admit it, okey? You know, in victory or in defeat, a good sportsman has no alibi.

Nope I’m not being held to some insane double standard where they get to clock move and I have to touch move 😂

Not if everyone is playing clock move. Which is the most common outside of tournaments. And sounds like that’s how they were playing. If he wanted to play touch move he should have established that before the game.

She is a cheater. The laws of chess are the laws of chess. If you are going to play by some rules that are different than chess, then you must agree to play fake chess before the start of the game. These chess girls are always touching a piece and then moving another one. Make sure when playing this girl or any of the others like the Botez sisters, that they are playing actual chess, not some version of chess where you can break the laws of chess.
