@googlefearsaltmedia218Күн бұрын
@@michellehart6780 That's a myth. Vehicles are designed to withstand impacts while moving towards an object. Crash tests are done by having the vehicle smash into a wall for example. They then examine the injuries of the dummy in the car that was speeding. They don't examine the other object. Or in most cases, the sober driver who was struck. Basically, the car moving the fastest is giving the most survivability by the designers because they assume you are the one hitting the object that does not contain living occupants. They do not test for you hitting a vehicle with living occupants. The reason is because people purchase vehicles for the safety features that will be applied to themselves. Not to others.

When we asked what that meant for us,they said we'd have to file it on our insurance and go after him in civil court. They gave him absolutely no criminal charges and allowed him to leave on foot. I place 94% of the blame on the wife. You can't control drunks on the road, but you CAN control being considerate of your husband and pull your car in and completely avoiding all of this mess.
@LKinner450Күн бұрын
Maybe invest in a safe place to put your vehicle rather than the vehicle itself. Who pays 100k for a truck knowing the probability its going to sit in the street for even a few hours is high?! These sales people really know how to get money from suckers LMFAO!!!

Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to find out the car you told your wife to pull into the driveway prior to this incident has been hit and you have your wife giving you attitude about how its not her fault and he should blame the drunk driver, few minutes later she’s there joking and giggling with police officers.. honestly, a marriage to the wrong person can mess someones whole life up. Watch out for psychos like this yall, it isn’t worth it just for a few minutes of warmth.

About 5 years ago, I heard a horrible crunching sound at midnight on Saturday, and sure enough some guy had just totaled my Volvo. St. Louis PD never even responded to do a report, and the guy gave me false insurance info. Dude was obviously impaired, too! I did get some money out of him, but not enough to even get a new car.

Always demand an officer. I’m not sure where you live, but almost universally there are things you can say that’ll get an actual response to the scene. First, I would’ve taken the driver’s keys, and if I got pinged for that later whatever. I’ve witnessed three separate fatal DUI collisions, including the incidents themselves and the aftermath, and if he’d driven off and killed somebody I’d never forgive myself. Second, if dispatch claims they aren’t sending someone out, or seems iffy on the issue, there’s always the option to play the overly-concerned citizen to get them there. When lives are at stake, who cares if someone thinks you’re overreacting; tell dispatch, “He seems like he might have a concussion and might need an ambulance,” or, “He’s very angry and I’m worried things might escalate.” Driving in that condition is not the “minor infraction” that so many people think it is. I’ve seen bodies torn to pieces, a teenaged girl panicked because her mother was decapitated, and bystanders counting body parts to see how many people were involved. The laws of physics don’t care about a person’s feelings or their ego. My advice to anyone who knows there’s someone on the road in that condition; raise hell. Deal with the looks and comments later. The alternative is much, much worse.

@@robertbeard230 I took pictures of his license and "insurance info", but after 45 minutes the guy left. I got my Bosnian neighbor out there to help translate, because the guy was pretending he couldn't understand me. He was bigger than both of us combined, and St. Louis City PD didn't see the urgency. After about an hour an officer called to see if I "still needed them"😂SLMPD is too busy fielding shooting calls on a Saturday night, so I guessed that I didn't. If Officer John can find a way to get St. Louis city BWC footage, it would be a goldmine!
