exactly. she probably read it in some book club or something and got the idea, but didn't have the wits to do much of the complicated planning, like the journal writings, that the woman in the book did. it's weird that she just at one point gave up and went home to say she was kidnapped...what was the point of it all? what did she gain? just the media coverage, the notoriety?

I think she wanted her husband out of the room, for her good, not the husband’s good….but knew it would look bizarre for an innocent kidnap victim to kick out their involved, caring spouse right when police are announcing they found the kidnapper. Almost no real victim would do that, despite her trying the “they let me see my kids, I don’t want them caught” excuse.

Yeah I watched all her police interview videos. Her husband excused himself when he saw evidence that she was lying to him. I think he might have suspected something was off cuz in an interview that happened at their home, he seemed distant and uninterested in her story when she was answering the police's questions. It's also interesting to watch he and Sherri's reactions several years later during the final interview at the police station when they said they solved her case. Her husband was visibly excited while Sherri was still and in disbelief. He thought her "kidnapper" was gonna be brought to justice while she was scared that they found the truth. I think her husband was being mistreated by her in some way. I feel bad for him and their kids.

She would tell someone she was doing something like that to sound like a deviant. She could while also probably throwing in sprinkles of care and only trying to help him. She probably said the 15 yr old came from an abusive family & she initially was trying to help him and it turned into something else...blah blah. No. It never happened. She watched the Mary Kay Letouneu Story and fantasized about being her. Ironically Mary Kay Letourneu was dating a 13 yr old student. Sherri looks oddly identical to Mary Kay. @@Thedarkbunnyrabbit It's not a "turn of phrase", it is an inaccurate reference. A person is either racist or they are not. When a person describes a person as the "least racist person I know", they are actually saying that the person they are describing is indeed a racist, but not as aggressively racist as other people they know. It is inaccurate in any case; simply saying that the person is not a racist at all would make far more sense. Saying it the way he said it has the opposite effect.

I know 2 couples who share a fcbk pg- posts are 90% pics/ narratives of their activities or time with family, friends. They're close, happy, sharing life, not staring at cell phones. Internet is awesome, but more social media = less personal interaction. Disagree? That tells me all I need to know. Catching up is nice, but keeping up with mundane details of others' lives, sharing your own for "likes" is nuts! Appreciating the beauty, wonder of a tree holds more value! Our time is short... LIVE♡

I don’t understand the negative connotation with shared Facebook accounts. Do I have one? No. But I know a few married couples who do, and they have completely healthy relationships. They do it because it’s just easier to keep up with for them that way.

Small correction to an excellent video: Sherri was actually branded on her back, over her shoulder blade. The police kept the location of the brand on Sherri's body secret. This was lucky since James (the guy who helped Sherri in all this) was actually the one who branded her so he knew exactly where on he body she was branded. This helped prove to law enforcement that James was being truthful because it was not public knowledge exactly where Sherri was branded. When I saw the photos of the brand taken by the hospital I knew something was up. It wasn't a deep burn so clearly the branding tool hadn't been held there long enough, almost like someone who cared about her pain and health performed the branding. James also passed a lie detector test regarding Sherri's injuries (among other things) and had family members to corroborate that Sherri was there of her own volition. Poor guy thought he was helping an old flame escape her abusive ex, not helping a narcissist stage her own kidnapping.

i believe they were in deep debt and she had major spending habits. she received something like $30,000 in victim compensation after her “kidnapping” as well as donations/gofundme money so i would assume they probably paid off a good chunk of their debt with that in order to avoid bankruptcy, which is definitely a potential motive for sherri faking her kidnapping. since shes clearly not above fraud, i would also assume she had been pulling in illegal money of some sort to support her family’s lifestyle before she went all gone girl. of course, she was charged with mail fraud for that money and paid a $120,000 bond, though, so that’s over lol

Average height is 5'1"?! I also suspected that Guatemalans/Mayans are actually American pygmies. I'm not joking. They're extremely short. I often find myself towering over people in Latin America no matter where I go and people who aren't technically dwarfs are walking around at 4'10". I would like to know how much taller they get when they live their whole lives in first world countries though. My family/ancestors have always been tall (~6' tall) even in southern Italy where people can be kinda short (not nearly as short as Sicilians though). In the US Italians get taller when they're born and live here though there are some people who are naturally short no matter what too.

Soon after, Brian said they were going on a trip to Canada and had her hide in the back of his truck so no one would see. She has never been found. None of her bank cards, social security, or any other information has ever been used. She left behind a young daughter.
