You're looking at it from an emotional point of view and not through a logical one. It's not "hateful" for anyone to share basic common sense with people. Mary not having Judge Judy's checking account is not really the issue here. The issue here is that Mary tried to save money by having Kurt tile her bathroom when it was obvious that he couldn't do the job correctly. The situation was too good to be true. That's the point Judge Judy was making to Mary.

At some point she’s gonna have to admit that she doesn’t know everything and that she’s just making it up as she goes along. She should be ashamed of herself.

I was a contractor, I took on a partner, AJ, to build a small apartment complex. The project manager calls me up one day, he found my partner passed out drunk in a pile of new carpets. SO I fired the guy. Next thing I know AJ managed to convince the manager it was my fault certain things he was responsible for (which I had to redo) were screwed up. And the manager awarded him the next contract for a house. I told the man, you find this clown passed out drunk! And you think it was I who screwed things up? As Judy would say (ding ding ding) so I told him. "Fine when he screws everything up give me a call. Only expect to pay me double to fix his mess." Sure enough a few weeks later. "Please I had to fire AJ can you come fix everything I am way behind." "Sure but it will cost you double!" Then I took a few weeks off as he paid for my shark diving excursion that year. LMAO.
