The actual definition of "gaslighting" is way broader, and doesn't have much to do with feelings, it is essentially trying or succeeding to convince someone that something they saw heard, or otherwise sensed didn't actually happen, that their powers of reason are failing, or to put it simply, that they are insane.

You probably know, but from my experience, "gaslighting" is a very overused and misused word, and many people, when challenged on the definition, don't even know what it is.
