I remember seeing this when it was released. Two other people in the theater and I fell out of our seats laughing when Carmen Maura's soap opera character ("the mother of the serial killer") appeared in a television ad promoting "Ecce Homo Laundry Detergent." Everyone else in the theater just seemed kind of confused.

jackal59 that's one of the best parts of the movie. We watched this film in a film studies class in college and everyone busted out laughing at that part when she's talking about how hard it is to get blood stains out of clothes and sheets

Antonio Banderas actually was in many great movies before coming to America. American movies are no long made for adults but for children and people with childlike minds . Warning don't eat the gazpacho its rich with mothers little helper ! lol

This is the first ever 80's film where the visuals are colorfull, like a present day film & the women are very, very sexy. I like the woman who ran away from her town & 'Antonio Bandera's fiancee (in the film).
