Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce defends her Olympic Women's 100m crown at London 2012 with a time of 10.75 seconds. Carmelita Jeter of the USA finished with silver and Veronica Campbell-Brown in bronze.
Since 1896, athletics has been on the programme of each edition of the Games of the Olympiad. Its presence on the Games programme has allowed its popularity to increase across the world. This popularity was also strengthened by the creation of the IAAF in 1912. Women's events appeared for the first time at the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, while the men's programme was standardised as of the 1932 Games in Los Angeles. Although at the beginning women were authorised to participate in only some events, today their programme is almost identical to that of the men.

Jeter and Pryce can get the "D" anytime. Felix looks like she could chew a apple through a picket fence with that forehead and teeth..LOL… Seriously though, Felix's strength is the 200M where here long strides and finishing kick gives her good top speed. It can work in the 100m, but against this strong line-up she would lose.

You look at Felix and think to yourself wow, she's one heck of an incredible athlete. One of the most decorated on the track. Then you look at Veronica Camble-Brown, arguably the greatest female 200m runner and think geez. Then Jeter, super fast, very strong and lastly, the Goat. How does a little pocket rocket stand toe to toe with these great women? Shelly-Ann is in my eyes the greatest female athlete of all time. It's such a bold statement because Flo-Jo and the women I've named from this final alone(maybe not Jeter) make an argument to be considered the Goat. Shelly-Ann just doesn't make sense. She's so tiny. I still don't understand how? She kills you with her infectious smile before the race, and then destroys everyone before her in such a ruthless burst if speed making everyone play catch up. It's like you know what's coming but you can't stop it. Power to the great and beautiful black women. You guys are truly queens and thank you for the inspiration throughout the years. Nothing but love, all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦

+Anahi Cardona yes indeed. All are still in great shape and going strong. Felix Fraser Ohoure and the one to really watch out for could be Okabare. With the arrival of Schippers The US is in danger this year but there are three sprinters that could surprise for US but rio might see ohoure okabare fraser and schippers in top four. but the true star overall will be Allyson Felix. She could win a gold in the 200 and she will win in 400. I see the US relay team of 4x1 and 4x4 winning gold as well. Felix could have three golds this year or at least two and a silver or bronze.

O Lord, it's a congregation of them. (See what I did there haha) Honestly I don't wanna do this. I've been there done that. Jesus died on the cross for my sins, He loved me so much that he took my place on Calvary's cross. He died and He rose again and is right now seated in glory waiting to call me home. That's what He did for me. You want to know why the world is so messed up? Two words FREE WILL. We could have been commanded to be perfect; obedient. But we were given a choice and time and time again we have destroyed ourselves with greed, selfishness, lust, pride, idolatry and so many more things that distance us from God. So I believe we shall agree to disagree because nothing you say will make me turn my back on Jesus. But for you, well the bible says that in the end it will be undeniable. "Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord" Don't wait 'cause it might be too late for you. Jesus loves you (right this minute, just the way you are), and you know what....I love you too =)

Just searched for some statistics. At this moment, there are a total of 73 times women ran under 10.80 seconds. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce owns the most of them with 16 times. The second goes to Marion Jones with 13, followed by Elaine Thompson with 8, Carmelita Jeter with 5, and both Ottey and Flo-Jo with 4. Flo-Jo impressed with all 4 times all in top 10, but all within three months in two events.

Among these 16 times, 6 of them are winning times in either the Olympic Games or World Championships, and none of others has more than 1 (Jones and Thompson each had 1)

it has alot to do with feet movement which can be troubling when you have tall ones because it requires more reaction time and more energy to create a faster pace (even if signals in your body moves at 100m/s, just a few milliseconds could mean a win or a loss). It's a good thing to be short because you need a fast pace (move foot up, move foot to the ground, push the foot from the ground, repeat).
@Nukity
@Nukity 7 жыл бұрын
It has a lot to do with less weight to move over that distance. It's something called the square cube law, and it states that something double in height will actually be 8x heavier. SAFP is also a prototypical stride rate runner, meaning she turns over quicker than her competition. Pair that with an amazing explosive start, and she's almost guaranteed to win the race. The only way for competition to catch up really is to have a longer stride, and close to equal frequency.

Well done Hech!Glad to see somebody is paying attention to detail, not like some other ignorant observers, who think they know track sprinting, but not a clue about running style &superior technique to run faster.They only have to pay attention to the commentators critique of a sprinters running style in slow motion, this is a teaching moment for the viewing audience, but goes over their heads. It is there staring you right in the face. I have not seen a superior sprinting style like Flojo's since 1988. There is no Coach living today, that is able to teach young sprinters, to use the technique Flojo used. Her husband Al Joyner will take the secret to his grave. Only a basic style of sprinting for females which has not evolved enough to approach 10.49 or 21.34.. When 11.00 or 22.00 flat is still the standard.
