The whole event was a long advertisement for competitions that are for the athlets, not the sponsord only. And the crowd in Munich was exceptional. They should be awarded with Olmpic games in the mid 30s.

Yeah. That’s all backroom deals. The Olympic Committee is just as greedy as everyone else. So whoever gives the largest amount in an unmarked envelope will win host city/country. That’s how the world has, and always will work because we’re humans.

They don't want it or the Olympics would have been there already in the last 20 years.. And btw they don't want it with good reasons. How can anybody in the year 2022 call the Olympics a reward for a city or region anyway?! The Olympics is a hyper exploitive event that leaves the country with depth and useless sports venues

Gina's split time was clocked at 10.19. The second fastest split time in the whole race. Only Poland finished with a faster split time of 10.18 on the anchor leg. Considering that Gina had to run the bend and pass the baton her split time is insane.

However, Germany did run and they showed up and got bronze...sure Team GB washed out as they did again in this race but I think Germany's better than France tho not better than GB when GB is able to run a clean race. Right now, there is no French woman to match Leuckenkemper's leg and Germany is quite sure-handed with the baton.

The commentator ask..."I wonder if Hasse knew that Swaboda was closing her down?" That was not actually accurate. In the first 20 meters Ewa did gain some distance on Becky, but if you look closely at the over head view, Becky was actually pulling away from Swaboda, negating most of what Ewa gained in the first 20 meters. Ewa, while super fast on the start had NO chance of running Hasse down. Becky doesn't look like a classic top sprinter, but some how she manages to turn up the speed and rarely gives up the lead on the final leg. Shout out to Ewa Swaboda for a great leg but equally big shout out to Becky Hasse for running a spectacular leg to close the race with the win and pulling away doing it!!

So much is spoken about their final 2 runners, and they were great for sure, but Berghardt always gives Germany a solid first leg, their first changeover is usually perfect, and then Mayer on the second leg always makes up ground on the other runners (she's got the 200m stamina for the long leg down the nack straight). She was matching Schippers the whole way, but the focus was completely on Schippers. GREAT TEAM VICTORY!

I can answer that question quite precisely as I looked into the backgrounds of both the twelve medallists and eight non-finishers in that event. In the case of GB that would be, in order of running, Asha Philip (Leyton), Imani-Lara Lansiquot (Peckham), Ashleigh Nelson (Stoke-on-Trent) and Dina Asher-Smith (Orpington) and in the case of France, also in order of running, Floriane Gnafoua (St.-Cloud), Gémima Joseph (Kourou, French Guiana), Hélène Parisot (Lisieux) and Mallory Leconte (St.-Denis), so only one of those eight doesn't come from GB/France. I thought it was a nice touch for the Germans, in the context of the event for which the European Championships was a celebration of a 'Golden Anniversary, the Munich Olympics, where West Germany's Heide Rosendahl held off East Germany's Renate Stecher for West German Gold in the final leg of the women's 4 x 100 metre Final, that, in this All-German quartet, it was what one may have called an 'Ossi' back in the Nineties, Zschopau's Rebekka Haase who had the honour of taking the baton over the finishing line after a trio of 'Wessis' had taken it round the other three legs.

@@dervogelmann1125 Those details in parenthesis were actual places of birth, so all the athletes in the Great Britain quartet were British by birth, not 'Africans' or 'Americans'. By a strange 'symmetry', the non-finishing French quartet consisted of three Black and one White athlete while the medal-winning Italian quartet consisted of three White and one Black athlete, although I suspect that Dalia Kaddari may have been of Arab/North African heritage, despite her birthplace of Cagliari, Sardinia. I was surprised to discover that Zaynab Dosso, who ran the first leg for Italy, was born in Man, Côte d'Ivoire, which was French territory, so one would have thought that her natural country of destination would have been France rather than Italy.

@@christopherbentley7289 Sending almost only black athlets to a european contest ...in the name of GB is a bit impudent...don`t you think so ? ...if every european country do this too ...maybe you could see...how absurd this is...Obvious GB white can`t compete with Germany at all...

It'll be a totally different result if the 2 top teams had not fumble in the baton passing, anyway is a weak field compared to the recent World championships.

1)Well, if you're referencing the fact that certain teams, like the US or Jamaica aren't there, it's because it's the EUROPEAN championships. 2) If you think it's so weak why are you watching? 3)Germany, who won bronze at WC btw, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Great Britain were all teams in the final at WC 2022. So I'm not sure how you can say its a weak field when all those teams made finals at both events.
