In a perfect world, women wouldn't need self-defense because men wouldn't perpetrate these crimes - but the world is far from perfect. The Gracie Women Empowered program is a jiu-jitsu-based women's self-defense system which addresses the 15 most common threats against women. In addition to leverage-based physical techniques, women are taught to use the "psychology of an assault" to set boundaries, assess intentions and deter attacks before they happen! Share the video and help us inspire women everywhere!

@Matthew the 3rd Yeah, but men have a better fighting chance against men. Now women on the other hand are almost guaranteed to lose the battle against a grown man, which is why they need effective self-defense knowledge and ability.

Daniel Cring, relax it was a simple compliment, doesn’t mean that she only likes people or believes people who are beautiful only matter, I mean come on we shouldn’t assume things so much. We don’t like people saying and assuming things about us but still say things ( a lot of times without realizing we hurt someone ) and then get mad when someone else says stuff to us, it’s actually something I feel like I too need to work, and I don’t mean to lecture you but... yea do you get what I’m saying? I’m sorry if I offended you with anything, I don’t mean to be disrespectful or anything, that wasn’t my intention, peace.

@@RajendraKumar-es3cc I thought about that and there is no point if a woman learns then, if, for example, a dude who might be a rapist in the future, learns martial arts and so does the woman (let's pretend they go to the same school), then the man will win in self-defense and then women can't protect herself (because no matter what ppl say, men are naturally stronger than women). Ik some young boys need help as well in self-defense because of our disgusting society. Men can physically protect themselves (but need help to be mentally stronger because everyone's mental vulnerability varies). I don't know if this will sound dumb but what if ppl get interviewed by a psychologist b4 they learn martial arts? I dunno there is no ultimate perfect solution in our messed up society... sadly...

It works, I signed up for bjj a few months ago. I am 38 years old, 187 cm and 95 kg, and quite strong and athletic. During training, I was carried away by a girl half the size (purple belt). Once I went to a self-defense course - organized in our company, by some guy from traditional martial arts who reportedly trained for over a dozen years - I tapped it off several times during easy sparring at the end of the class.

You are right but in a real fight there is striking. Plus it might have bites, finger in the eye grab genitals etc. So you might not be able to hold a stance properly as taught. And it's a totally different situation. For exemple you can't be too close or you'll be bite or take a headbutt. In side control, you can't leave an arm free cause it will go for genitals. So i think its safe to say that if you only do bjj you lack of 2 very important skills : foul fight skills and striking offence and defense. Their program is quite good from that perspective : bjj (armbar 3:56), some krav maga stuff (2:36) and some striking (1:08) but in my humble opinion 2:56 is complete bullsh*t armbar or kimura to neutralize an armed guy on the ground is complete nonsense you'd better learn how to get up as fast as possible (muay boran/self defense style) the proper way and just run instead of fighting a knife on the ground.

Size, strength, adrenaline, and the element of surprise are all variables which can negate skill in a real self defense situation. In order for a woman (or anyone) to know whether she will be able to successfully perform self defense techniques on a larger, stronger, and adrenalized aggressor who will attack her by surprise, she will need to practice them on a sparring partner who fits that description. Two women facing off and fighting each other is not a real world self defense scenario. A woman being grabbed from behind, in poorly lit conditions, by a 200 lb. man who is three times stronger than she, being thrown to the ground and pounced upon is a real life self defense situation. Gracie Jiu Jitsu is a great martial art; the issue is for each individual woman to pressure test her own individual skill, strength, stamina, and reaction to a realistic violent street assault by a physically superior and ruthless opponent.

@marca.8081 3 жыл бұрын
@@nikolaslavov3498 I would agree and disagree. No gym can fully replicate a vicious street assault, but every self defense gym must try to come as close to one as is safe to do. Female students must be placed among male instructors, some of whom ask them the time of day and walk away and some who ask and suddenly attack them. Protective gear is available to allow harder striking, which needs to be experienced in training. Surprise, fear, pressure, and pain need to be experienced in order to truly prepare anyone for a real street attack. Practicing with a training partner who applies none of these elements is physical exercise, not street self defense.

Yes I know. Problem is this way training becomes intimidating and not even a third of the girls in the video would be willing to do it. This is business as well, the Gracies wanna make as much $$$ as they can. Also with these emotions there's more chance of accidents and injuries. But yes, you're 100% right. Almost none of these girls seem prepared for actual assault.
@marca.8081
@marca.8081 3 жыл бұрын
@@nikolaslavov3498 I agree, but they can start them slowly and work their way up. You are absolutely right that from the beginning, if they beat people up in class, many would not come back. However, if they started with some easy technique training and increased the intensity gradually, explaining the necessity of doing so, I think their students would understand. Ever since I watched the Guided Chaos (guidedchaos.com) training by John Perkins, author of "Attack proof," it changed the way I view self defense training. BJJ training is a great idea, but it needs to include the principles taught in Guided Chaos in order to be more street ready. As Bruce Lee said, every martial system has a piece of truth to it, so one should learn from many and create a well rounded self defence system. An equalizer, such as The unbreakable umbrella (unbreakableumbrella.com) is a good idea, too. This umbrella is a street legal self defense tool which can be carried anywhere. It is a real umbrella but built much stronger so that it can be used to defend oneself if needed. It is nice to speak with you. Please stay safe and healthy; my best wishes to you and your family.

Hi! I'm a recent subscriber, another KZbinr told his subscribers about your channel. This is awesome but I wanted to know if a woman in her early 50s and handicap can join? I recently got disabled about 6 yrs ago. I was just wondering if a handicap person can learn these techniques. That would be great if I would be able to join in. Thanks for making videos that are interesting and helpful to watch. Thanks again, Lani

Nice defences, some of them great. But I do have a question, I am NOT a hater, but I am curious. How long from walking through the door, to being able to do these techniques to an effective level? I know the course states 10 hours, but are they effective after this time?

I would advise boxing because most men aren’t expecting a fight and it is not how hard you hit but how clean you get hit that counts. And most perps aren’t fighters either.

Why don’t we have self defense classes in schools? At least 1 year worth of self defense classes in high school would be amazing.

Nicely done advertised video Gracie's. There are men that could use the same information as you have for woman. You might want to consider that for your next advertisement. Keep up the great efforts. :)

Self Defense techniques are something that need to be practiced daily . In different situations with different people. If comfort is not achieved in contact practice, most likely the technique will be ineffective in a real self defense situation. Must become second nature

Whoa.. whoa whoa… men aren’t the only ones committing crimes against women . I’ve had to box with another woman who wanted to start some nonsense at the mall. Not identifying other women as a threat leaves you vulnerable.
