Gentlemen, please use proper context, Chelsea suffered season ending injuries to Sam Kerr and Mia Fichel, brought in a new striker who also picked up a knock in Myra Ramerez and nursed Lauren James through a super tight fixture schedule. Kat Mac was also returning to fitness, as well as Millie Bright being compromised and bleeding in a new center half in the January window all on the fly with WSL, Cup games, and Champions League. They did the best they could under the circumstances!! Applaud the effort, they did well.

Agreed! Just think we fell short of pre-season expectations, that's all! We were favourites for 3 trophies this season so to win only 1 is a little underwhelming. But we still played very well - this season will be interesting👀

Absolutely correct. Millie, Cat, Mia and Sam missing half the season or more, Aniek Nowen more or less all of it, plus Both Myra Ramirez and Natalie Bjorn being out for crucial weeks after arriving in January to bolster the squad, were massive blows to our trophy ambitions.

In recent seasons both Arsenal and Manchester City have, absolutely legitimately, pointed to significant injury lists as the reason they failed to challenge for the title or to qualify for Europe. Our injury crisis in 23/24 was worse than any suffered by our closest rivals. On the weekend of the Man Utd home game, we had 10 players missing through injury. Granted they would not all have started if fit but, when the starter, her backup, and the backup's backup, are all on the treatment table, that's a massive blow. Winning the league despite this was a fantastic achievement, and getting so close in the other three (2 semi-finals and a final) was a monumental effort by our squad.

I think it was a big achievement for Chelsea. There was one point they thought they had lost the title to city. Being pushed right to the end and coming out on top is a big achievement.

This season would certainly be great for Chelsea. Bompastor is a better replacement and the sqaud is amazing... Bad injuries should stay away

It looked like Bompastor was trying Ashley Lawrence out as a winger in some of the exhibition games. Not crazy, as she likes to push upfield as a defender, (not a lot of assists, but often makes the pass that leads to an assist). I wonder if that's the best use of her, though. I think we sometimes take Lawrence for granted. Hoping Bompastor doesn't do that.

Yeh I'm just not sure how she manages to get many minutes with such strong competition on the RW. I think she'll be used as a LB as well, though it seems Bernabe will stay and compete for that place as will🤷‍♂️

@@TheWomensFootballChat dude come on, go back and watch Bronze for the last 18 months and then get back to me. Out of position more times than Emma Hayes wins leagues. Sure Jess had some tough ones but also had some world class games as part of an ever changing back 5. There's no comparison between the drop off we've seen from Fran Kirby who clearly can't do it at the top level anymore and Carter who had some minor dips in form.

Brilliant views. The 2 of you balancing the arguments is perfect. For me Chelsea the next 2 seasons the priority is Champions league. The league they have a big enough squad to win or come 2nd. They will play 2nd team in cups as I said Champions League is what the new coach is there for. They have the squad now to do it now. Depending on how the pending court case goes I think Kerr will return to US in winter or next summer. Ramirez and SBJ will lead attack and Marcario will interchange with them. Rameriz looks unstoppable and lethal to me and may push Bunny for the golden boot. Reiten looked like she was getting back to herself at the end of last season it was a poor season after the world cup. Kaneryd was outstanding last season with the only thing she needs to add to her game in consistent finishing. Baltimore looks like a good addition based on the Friendlies. As I have said in Arsenal review......Arsenal do not have these options and style of wing play that Chelsea have in abundance. James has so much potential. I think she still has a lot to learn, but like Lopez at Barca the future of womens football is very exciting if they fulfil their potential. Bronze?!! Perisset and Lawrence must have been wondering what was going on. She is a legend, but against pace she is weak. Teams that allow her to wander forward can always exploit the space she leaves and it will drag the error prone Buchannan out leaving space in the middle. Legend that she is I am someone who does not think she should be the England right back anymore. She brings a winning mentality to the side so that is a great plus to Chelsea, but will she play in the league ahead of Perisset?! But then the Coach has won the Champs League and I have not!!! Playing out from the back if it is Bright and Buchannan they have been very wayward with their passing and as I say Buchannan always puts me on edge as she has a mistake in her nearly every game. Bright hopefully will be back to her best, but she looked like she was struggling last season when playing. Totally agree that Bright may not play as much. They will miss Carter as the utility player and she was immense in the Barca win. I think Chelsea and England don't understand how good she really is at reading the game. ( she is right footed yet she is played left back by Sarina! ) She will be brilliant in the US. The player in the defence/offence they cannot afford to lose is Charles. Attacking she is world class and whilst she is still learning defensively Chelsea have no one able to play left back and who can link up and attack like she can. Lawrence is right footed and as shown in the friendlies is weak in the final third on her left foot. The player who did not impress me when she played at the end of last season, but has been outstanding in the friendlies and looks like a star of the future is Hamano. Central midfield is a slight worry for me in Champions League and against City. Regarding the new manager. She is very impressive in press conferences and interviews and clearly has the knowledge of how to win champs league. If I am being negative the things that may be an issue is against PSG and Barca last season she struggled tactically. PSG should have been out of sight in the first leg and wasted so many chances and made bad substitutions allowing Lyon to turn the game around in first leg. Secondly the French league is weak apart from a few teams. This allows you to concentrate on the Champions League. WSL and cups are very different and we will have to see if this is an issue. I believe from what I have seen of her that she sounds like she is more than capable of doing it, but it is an unknown. The players look like they are happy with her so that is good enough for me. I see them winning the league and going all the way in Champs League this season. The cups I think they will sacrifice.

I'm not hugely surprised to see Bompastor playing the more experienced players. Bronze was always going to be a starter and the difference between Musovic and Hampton is marginal anyways. I still think there's a lot to be excited about but I get your concerns👍

Lovely episode lads. I've been following the club's women's team since 2017 and I feel like Sonia is creating a different beast with this team. I think we'll see a very rutheless Chelsea side, probably much scarier than what Emma had. I watched the preseaon games and we looked really really good and these signings look very scary especially Kaptein. I might just be overexcited but I'm confident we can get to the UWCL final this season.
