It hurts like a behj, I got my jaw locked while playing first base and a drive came right at me. Then another time playing pitcher and short stop. I’ve had more concussions playing softball then I did playing volleyball.😂 my mom wondered how I wasn’t stupid yet with how many hits I’ve taken to the head. 😂😂

it's not common to wear helmets on the field. it is common to wear facemasks, though. something that should be a college rule for pitchers to wear facemasks

I played softball for 10 years and that entire time face masks were required for the entire infield, including the pitcher. I have no idea why they get rid of that rule in college softball, especially since the hits are much faster at that level. A girl I know got hit in the face for not wearing one and was out for the rest of the season, it was nasty.

The first and only time I was the pitcher in a softball game, around halfway through the game the batter swung at my pitch and it came barreling straight to my face. My reflexes were just a split second faster and I caught it in my glove but still ended up hitting myself in the face from the force of it. Thankfully it was my glove and not the actual ball. It still shook me and I never played pitcher again.
