Not sure how I stumbled into this… this Godly woman is sharing my story. Only difference is I was married to my ex-husband for 16 years and he not only cheated but also was physically and emotionally abusive . I was broken, I prayed, I forgave….I thank God for giving me a second chance that after my divorce, 2 years later I met my wonderful husband. And we are happily married for 5 years and counting… Thank God for rescuing me from a dysfunction. I know my children at their young ages experienced the dysfunction but it made them resilient and who they are today. The backlash from church members are real, but as long as God is by your side, that’s ALL that matters. Trust in God and He will turn your trials to triumphs and give God the glory always!!! God bless you sister for sharing your story. I can relate!🙏🏽

I am so sorry that you have been through this. My mom had cheated on my dad pretty much their entire marriage and walked out on my dad after 40 years of marriage. She was emotionally abusive and physically abusive and did everything she could to divide my sisters and my dad and even when we knew the truth she still continues to lie. I still feel guilt over things i have no control over simply because she blamed me for existing and stating that when she got pregnant with me was why she stayed married to my dad Since my parents divorce my dd has become so strong I am so thankful to God for it. . I will keep you in my prayers and hope you can also find healing in such a messed up world we live in . God Bless you

I can identify with this video on all levels. After 40 years of marriage, my husband divorced me. I made myself face all the emotions that come with this experience, it is a process, and the emotional pain is like nothing I have ever experienced in my life. I also suffered a stroke from all the stress. Thank you for sharing your story.

Praying for your complete healing! My husband divorced me after 32 yrs. It happened because I put my boundaries up in my marriage. As painful as it was, now am so glad that he left. I hope you you can read her book. God bless❤

Had abusive neighbors that our family had to face for years, along with their other miserable allied couples with grown, bullying children. They caused lot of stress & sleep deprivation from their loud and deliberate racket. One of them, a mean,foul-mouthed postman,(& his equally abusive-to- us wife)retired, entered his name fraudulently into my deceased mother's house-document records, through corrupt officials.Took 3 years to solve this, while they shamelessly enjoyed the process.

Good Boundaries And Goodbyes has opened my eyes to what I knew I needed to deal with, not just get over quickly. This book, at times I could only read a little at a time..because it was telling my story and I knew what to do that was healthy, but I thought if I prayed enough my husband would change and do his part. I wanted to be that godly wife and give him time. Well, I have given 34 years, and it has not changed... I trust God as I apply the boundaries in all. This is a great book.❤

My daughters and I are doing a study on her book and it has been an amazing journey of healing, growth, and transformation in our friendships and relationships. It took us to our childhoods and who are today as adults. God is soo Good that he doesn’t leave us where we are at in a broken state. He is the great Jehova Rapha, our healer!

Lysa, you are amazing. For 5 solid days, my mind was thinking how my ex husband seemed to want to return to the marriage a month ago, and, then went back to being cold and going back on his words. I had no peace despite praying. Last Sunday, I prayed to God to help me get this out of my mind. I chanced on your video the very next day and I feel alot of weight taken off my shoulders especially when you said that i need to decide that I want to be brave. In 2 days time, I will be informing my ex to proceed with the divorce that he asked me a year ago. I will be clinging to your words when I speak to him. Thank you so very much for giving me the strength.

When everyone you were close to dies who truly knew your heart. Theres no one left who truly understands what youve been through. Only speculations, I had a hard time navigating life through lots of sickness in my body. Being spoken about disrespectfully online. Everyone taking certain peoples word on you and your life. I was damaged and mentally and physically sick. I needed God more desperately than I ever have if thats possible. He never left my side, and began to open my eyes to changes that I needed to make and He also made it easier for me by giving me a clear path out. Im so thankful to my BEST FRIEND, FATHER, SAVIOR, COMFORTER, PROTECTOR, PROVIDER, MY EVERYTHING. HE IS MY HERO!

I remember a lady in my church who,s husband had an affair and so many wanted her to take him back, again no repentence and I thought which one of you people praying would like to be married to a liar, I wouldn,t, we do not has christians have to stay with a adulterer or abusive person, we have such a warped view on things and are so shallow. I commend you Lisa especially for your honesty, I have often thought to pour my heart out in church would be less painful if I chewed my leg off, thank you Lord Jesus for being our perfect saviour xxx

I've had a similar experience. The Lord encouraged me to stay in and fight for my marriage which involved years of cheating and abuse. I did everything I could, and ultimately after the last discovery He said that it was time to leave. I've been divorced now just over a year, healing and coming to terms with everything. The most important thing to do in any situation is listen to Holy Spirit and do what He tells you no matter what anyone/everyone else tells you you should/shouldn't do. He knows what you need and when you need it. The church has a lot of opinions, but it's The King's opinion that really matters. Praise God in Jesus Christ!

Lysa's story is almost exactly like mine... the mental health crisis that my first husband put me through was much bigger than I realized then. The good news is that my late husband got truly saved and changed! Yet, the baggage of that earlier time lingered. My late husband was probably bipolar but was untreated. I lived life on the edge struggling to balance the doctrine of submission with the reality of holding my family together in case my husband started to get wild ideas... there were truly scary times. The kids never saw their dad in his messed up state. They only know him as fun, loving and full of life and passion for Christ. Sadly, at least 2 of my children have his tendencies. When do I tell them the , if ever, the truth of their father?

Such profound discussion. Very much necessary. When we ask for forgiveness, we are expected to repent and turn from our sinful ways, why then are we expected to reconcile with someone who is unrepentant and stuck in their offensive ways? We forgive by all means. That's the beginning to our healing. However, we cannot heal in the same toxic environment that cause us pain in the first place. We don't just throw in the towel, but we must look after our own emotional well-being. As a Christian, I used to find it rather challenging with the expectation to 'stay and pray'. Hence why I wrote the book '12 Fundamental Truths about Forgiveness'. It gives clarity to the misconceptions of forgiveness.

Ya. Don’t marry someone whom was willing to risk losing you. Doesn’t matter if you have a “history.” God will heal and provide you with one whom will treasure you. Please trust me on this… I forgave, but years later after breaking it off four times, met the man of my dreams. He’s been faithful 41 years. Raised three great kids now two grands. Yes, painful but trust me nothing like a divorce with children, which I can only imagine. Look up Focus on the Family, Insight for Living, Family Talk and David Jeremiah. You can speak to free counselors each place. Dave Ramsey for finances. Please read the Gospel of John. It will change your life. God bless…

Great conversation, these one size fits ALL Christian’s views that they speak of need to be addressed . You’re Christian so your life is perfect … nope . GOD treats us all as individuals and gives us all individual trials and journeys . I tried to hold my own marriage together and GOD literally told me loud one day two words - GET OUT- . The next day I was at the attorneys office . I wasn’t growing to become the womenGOD wanted me to become and my husbands issues were getting in the way of the plan GOD had for me . Life isn’t supposed to be this perfect journey , look at the Bible and see all those who have gone through seriously awful trials !!!! This is life . Where is GOD ?? He’s watching how you endure this trial / the lessons you learn / the changes you make and most importantly do you lean on him ? He doesn’t fix things . He doesn’t go by the typical white upper-crust American standard . He again has his own ideas of what you’re destined for . Im saying this all with the wisdom God has given me through my own trials and with love . ❤
