This video shows you how to practice Won-Hyo Tul which is the 4th of 24 patterns in Taekwon-Do. It explains how to practice various parts of the pattern, such as how to pivot when you are turning, how to move your body during the different stages of the movements as well as how to remain balanced and develop more power. Then, the video explains the sequence of all 28 movements in the pattern.
Before learning this pattern, it is advisable to watch the following videos so that you are familiar with the techniques in this pattern:
Lesson #2 Front Kick, Lesson #8 Knife-hand Guarding Block, lesson #18 Twin Forearm Block, Lesson #22 Straight Fingertip Thrust, Lesson #25 Knfe-Hand High Inward strike, Lesson #26 Circular Block, Lesson #28 Side Piercing Kick.

Disclaimer :
I recognise Grand Master General Choi Hong Hi as the true authority on Taekwon-Do. The information in my tutorial is based on my interpretation of Taekwon-Do as taught to me by the Founder General Choi Hong Hi and as referred to in his book ‘TAEKWON-DO’ (5th Edition 1999) Published by ITF and printed in Canada.
Other Taekwon-Do Masters and Grand Masters may have a different interpretation of Taekwon-Do theory and practice, so if you are a Taekwon-Do student, it is important to check with your instructor if you are not sure about which interpretation you should be following.

Loving these videos! Such a great source of additional information. I have a question about the pre-action of your hands during the side piercing kicks in this pattern. You don't really mention it specifically, but you aren't crossing your hands (back to back, striking hand on top) like you did in your separate video on the side piercing kick. Is there supposed to be a little more cross and wind up with the hands on this move? Thanks!!

@DonatoNardizzi
@DonatoNardizzi 4 жыл бұрын
@@daneduggan9779 Yes, I trained with Master Park Jung Tae a few times when he came to England. I learnt Juche Tul from him in the mid 80's. That was the pattern he developed and was used to replace Ko-Dang Tul. Master Park was an amazing instructor. I say Master Park, but of course he later became Grand Master.

I always wonder from where the martial artist gets power to break boards or anything, just by practicing patterns or moves. Even a dancer performs moves, but he is unable to break boards.if they get power by continuously hitting objects , then why perform all these patterns.Sorry for being naive master. But it will be very helpful if you explain. Thank you for providing wonderful lessons.
@DonatoNardizzi
@DonatoNardizzi 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for this good question. You need to do more than practice moves and patterns. For example conditioning the tools on forging post, developing power by hitting a punch bag or kick shields. But patterns allow you to develop the principles of power if done properly, such as using sine wave motion, winding up for a technique, accelerating when executing the technique, jerking the abdomen to provide more mass to the technique, etc. There is point just making shapes with the body and follow a sequence of movements without using these principles of power. Then it would be no different than a dance.

When I send my daughter first time to taekwondo class I also think the same. what is the function of learning those pattern n movements. I send her jus 1 n half hour a week. She was 8 that time. I sent her because I think she is too weak. She is weak n easily cried. and easily get tired. But now she is 10..after 2 years she is not weak anymore. Even I cannot help her to hold the kicking pad.. I just bought the kicking pad for her about a week n I realised that her kicking is hard. I cannot stand the impact. My hands hurt 🤭🤭. So now only her dad can help her with the kicking targets.. The point here is Eventhough she is always training pattern more than kicking by her trainer, but the impact of the pattern training develops strength to her legs n hands.. For next year she is going to join the sparring competition. So I hope taekwondo can help her to be more confident n healthier..
