There’s a guy at my school like this. He is a few grades a head of me tho. He is really kind and a bunch of the boys in my class make fun of him, and laugh when they see him. I think that if I could be him I would, because I would love to be unique. I feel bad that he is bullied, but good that he has a chance to stand out. (The cause of it was a fire) It wasn’t just his face, it was his feet and body. His feet were facing outwards. And his arms only had 3 fingers, very wide (and no offense) fat fingers. I don’t think it’s right to make fun of people. Or make fun of the bullies. If you stayed this long, thanks.

I know this comment is old but if you read the book then you would understand why they had to use all the prosthetics and have a regular actor. The way Auggie is detailed in the book there would be no way anyone in the world looks like Auggie unless they had the same exact conditions and had the same exact surgeries as Auggie (and yes I put an s for a reason because Auggies characters had several birth defects and had over 27 surgeries). It wouldn't have made sense to use someone with deformities just off the sole fact that they have deformities if they didn't have the deformities that the character has. Not to mention the fact that Jacob got the role because he's an excellent child actor who really knows how to convey emotions well and connect with the audience.

My opinion is that when it comes to adults who are comfortable, then yes. They should use a person who can portray these disabilities from their own experience. However, a kid is likely to take it personally and to not have a very nice time on set, so I think it would be horrible to use someone who would possibly take things personally. I can get where you are coming from though.

When I read the book I was in tears, and just had an emotional ride. At first I never cared for the book, but after a chapter, I bought my own of it (in school we read it, so I went to buy my own to share it to my family). Even my mom cried, it was so much sadness, anger, happiness, and sympathy. But then the movie came out, I went to see it because I love it. But I thought it was really short. I know that he was dealing with a lot of plastic and stuff, but I wanted more scenes to show more emotion, he did so good, but I didn't cry as much as the book. I still love this movie, very very much. But I wanted more tears coming out of my eyes and I wanted to feel the pain he was acting out. It was so good, but, just want it longer.

I love the fact that they never said what kind of disability or condition he had to give the viewer space to imagine anyone in similar circumstances especially people who are facing similar challenges. And I Also love that they made him look like other people who have facial deformities so they could see themselves in the character as well as other people see them in that light. This was done Beautifully and was truly a Wonder!!! One of the first or few Movies like this where a deformed person is the hero of the show! Great Job!!
