What I personally love about this fight is how Josuke stopped looking at WoU as force of nature but as something with a will and takes advantage of that. Instead of giving up and surrendering to Calamity, he makes the "man" behind it come to him. Because Tooru has goals and things he wants to do, he's not as free from consequences as his Stand has made him believe and is lured and brought to Josuke. And also the fact that Josuke talks shit to essentially a godlike entity is so raw. Just starts breaking shit and WoU is like: "You know how much money I could've made from that?" And Josuke just says my shoes cost money too, so idgaf. HE IS HIM!

2:27- in previous JoJo main villain fights, there was always a possibility throughout of defeating them. The Wonder of U truly feels like a hopeless fight with any hope ultimately not mattering. It takes a miracle to even get a chance of winning and even then it’s a Herculean effort just to landing the finishing blow as the enemy is additionally smart enough to circumvent his weaknesses through tricks.

Dio was basically impossible until Dio somehow trained Star Platinum to awaken its Time Stop (or speed to the point of something like time stop as Pucci proves). Dio just got nervous once and that was it.

@@iantaakalla8180 or you can say that dio's stand being what he thinks is his powers and him being unintentionally be brainwashed by that granny to think his powers was to control time to make it basicly feel like stopped, that made jotaro trough tricks get his own time stop and get stronger because dio also thought star platinum was the same type as his, but in the end dio began to get stronger because he truly believed that he was stronger by getting the blood and the body accepting him to finally unleash his full power, to think he lost because he unintentionally thought deep inside that jotaro could stop time as well, but up to that point jotaro didn't stop time but actually moved on time stop, so dio tricked himself into losing.

Wonder of U is such an overwhelming force and cool stand (one of my favorite) ! The fight is so different to everything that came before and, just like the character of Tooru, it's only on your second read that you realize how interesting and well executed the whole thing is.

About the "the group needing to full on retreat", it actually happened before with DIO when the Stardust Cruzaders got to his room, and they jumped out through the window. Of course, they fought just moments later, but they also needed to run away and think of another approach. Aside from that, great video as always.

Josuke’s journey from not knowing who he is to having a strong resolve and overcoming a great force that tests that resolution is so human and relatable. For me personally, this ending hit harder than any other JoJo ending so far. I’m so glad people are now starting to come to this realization. I think, with Jotaro technically being a part of the Gappy fusion, that Soft & Wet: Go Beyond is meant to be the Alt. Universe version of Star Platinum: The World, in the same way that The Spin mirrors Hamon. Both users are characters trying to save their mom, facing against Villains who have what are, by their respective points in the series, the strongest Stands in existence. Then, after losing multiple friends in their quest to take this Villain down, the respective Heroes experience a Rage/Resolve amp that unlocks a secret ability of their Stand that they needed someone else to help them realize even exists, and that secret ability is just what they need to tip the scales against their Villain and as a result, their Stand is the one that winds up becoming the new Strongest Stand in the series.

Alongside being the most powerful main antagonist, I like how he also contrasts a lot of the main antagonists, despite being so powerful, ironically has the least ego, he never hyped himself up, the hood guys are doing it for him, and as if his overwhelming power wasn’t enough, he literally has weapons too in the form of the rock insects. Unlike most other final battles too, WoU is the one in the reactionary, where as all other so far have the main Jojos be the reactionary, due to this, he borderline walks away from Josuke once he thinks he might lose It’s not too touched on in this video but I really liked how there are effectively 2 final battles, group against the stand, and Yasuho against the user, but because of the rule where stand and user share damage, their effectively just fighting the same guy in 2 locations Completely unrelated but I really hate how people downplay WoU and Go Beyond to oblivion by saying any one that has an illogical ability can beat WoU(i.e Craft work defies logic so he can beat WoU). Like dude, the very consept of stands, hamon and Araki forgots are all illogical, this form of appeal to reality fallacy isn’t even consist

All crusaders except for Polnareff had decided to flee instead of fighting Dio at night, and you could also say Bruno gang retreated from the King Crimson attack on Bucciarati because they were not grasping what was threatening them. I mean, the case with the WoU arc is miles more sound that the others, but it still kinda had happened something similar in the past parts.

I imagine it’s like how in Part 3 & 5’s case, King Crimson and The World’s ‘mysterious’ abilities causes the protagonists to temporarily retreat to figure out what is happening. Technically, our protagonists could win if they rolled a Nat 20 on luck twice, even Dio can be bested with an ambush. WoU was so indomitable that they were just forced to flat retreat. There’s legitimately no hope of besting WoU at this time, they had all the information they needed but were simply *outclassed* by orders of magnitude. They didn’t even manage to really confront WoU and just got decimated by it’s passive. If had to put an analogy in how different they feel; King Crimson and The World gives the user the ability to do an extra move every turn or read the opponents mind in Chess, WoU is a loaded perfectly-aimed Barrett M82. Yeah, still odd phrasing though.

I don't really think it's an asspull, it was hinted at earlier Mamezuku himself mentioned how the spinning bubbles are similar to his I think the thing I like about JoJoLion is that unlike say SBR, it doesn't spell out much of anything for you, it's always half open as to what happens That helps in a mystery story, however it's a tough line to walk and JoJoLion's biggest problem comes from occasionally under exposing some of the more important aspects of the story, especially towards the end with Toru and his involvement which is too open imo However, Kei's death wasn't needless For one, it was 100% consistent with what would've happened since she's chasing WoU But moreover, she's the one that both brought the phone over to Josuke to later do the whole explosive bubble through Paisley Park thing while also being the one whose ability was used to demonstrate that, yes, WoU isn't undefeatable That the invisible bubbles can indeed hurt WoU Speaking of the resolution of Holly's story I do disagree with you on it being bad for the story, I personally am neutral towards it and think that this was a decent enough decision (way better than SBR's "he later died of a cold" that happened) Because for one, it's not even a resolution, her condition is still up in the air

@@mizzix Everyone was still affected by the stand, including Josuke The only reason Josuke was born is because of the Rock humans The only reason Holly is the way she is is because of Toru Him finding a solution at the end doesn't somehow invalidate the journey to reaching there It's also not like Josuke didn't work towards his abilities, he didn't know for example his explosive bubble abilities until after he learnt about it Nor did he learn about his invisible bubbles until after he lost Mamezuku It's still discovery and learning except it's not centred around learning as a tutorial like SBR(personally, this is something kinda have a problem with when it comes to SBR finale as the solution to the problem is discussed beforehand in GYRo's final lesson, so the surprise isn't as weighty) Admittedly, it's quite different from Johnny and Giorno, but I don't really see it as a problem, in fact I don't even see it as convenient either, the dude is as unlikely of a spawn as the new Locacaca, Josuke cannot be replicated because he doesn't exist Even his final ability is only enabled by this fact It's a vastly different approach and the story makes it clear that it is not attempting to replicate the other situations where something similar has happened Now does that mean I have no problems with it? No I think something that should've been covered is Mamezuku discussing with Josuke how his bubbles are spinning lines beforehand so that the final payoff is even better set up than a line that initially seems to be a throwaway Otherwise, I really wouldn't change much here personally The ability is also such that he couldn't have known about it beforehand The only reason he found it out was because of the friendly fire that happened at the end And that friendly fire was Toru's own doing with the whole "1cm away speech" Also, I'm not really arguing with you whether you find it good or not In story telling, what amounts to bugs for some is a feature for others For me, this relative ambiguity is (mostly) a feature, your mileage obviously varied

That's a completely wrong assessment. Go Beyond was setup all the way back in chapter 1 with Yasuho seeing a soap bubble that was only visible through her phone's camera (Paisley Park) and rather than popping, had dissapeared from existence. Mamezuku Rai already started working out the composition of Josuke's bubbles way before they even encountered WoU, in that he realised they were made up of strings. And spin has already been shown to have fate manipulating properties and properties that transcend the normal physical laws of the universe. Josuke was also specifically created via a miracle that was literally born of Tusk act 4's infinite spin due to the Wall Eyes so even his very existence can be traced back to the spin and all of these things are setup before the eventual reveal. If all that aint enough then I don't even know how you can enjoy any reveal as that's a massive amount of setup, it's just subtle enough that you need to of properly been paying attention. So no, not only isn't it, it's actually one of, if not the most well setup mc powerups in the entire series and a testament to Araki's skill as a writer, his only mistake was overestimating his fanbase's reading comprehension. Needless? The entire point of all these side character contributions was to show the cost of doing battle with something as cataclysmic as WoU, there was no other way that was gonna go to begin with, if people didn't drop like flies against such a threat that would be bad writing. How would there be a resolution exactly when there's literally no way of curing her? They didn't ignore it either as Yasuho talked about the fact that there were no Rocacaca fruits in Morioh, an image of Holly flashed up at which point Josuke said that there could be other fruits out there on the islands the plants are from. This clearly implies he's still gonna keep that promise, it would just be literally impossible within the confines of the part. So no, none of the things you mentioned "brought the whole part down a couple letter grades". In fact, given how expertly written the resolution of the WoU fight was, I'd say it raised the overall quality.

Something I find interesting is the shift in Araki's villains. Rather than the first universe where all villains had something to do with time The SBR universe villains all have an ability affecting SPACE. Think about it, D4C manipulated dimensions and so did Love Train WoU manipulated the fabric of reality, not time, to cause misfortunes and calamities Yes I know Diego From Another World exists but I'm talking about main, titular villains.

I think Rai represents the continued fight against the inevitable, not because you think you'll win, but because it is the only thing to do. His sacrifice ends up serving as the catalyst for Wonder of U's defeat. There was no hope he'd win, but fighting on none the less resulted in the ultimate victory being had.

I think my absolute favorite part about Jojolion is that leading up to the Wonder of U fight Josuke still has nothing. He knows where he came from. He's given a place to live with people he's only just met. He gets basically a girlfriend that he can't really go out with. It's all just new. He can't count on the comforts of history like a young adult has. He has no distant memories. He has no actual family ties. He's just here. He is basically just a guardian spirit or a force of nature, like Wonder of U, trapped in the body of a young man. He has to truly dig deep and figure his thoughts and feelings out on the fly. It's not like he'd ever been in a situation leading up to him coming out the ground. He was a blank slate. So for him to decide to fight for the people caught in his strange existence means so much more. For him to care about Holy, or the Higashikata family, or Yasuho just means a lot more.
