The problem is they had no idea that the island was there beforehand, and wouldn’t have even known it was inhabited. Why bomb an uninhabited island? Even if they had seen the amazons from a distance. If this was real life, assuming the Amazons were a isolated nation on an island that was assumed to be uninhabited, the Germans would have seen a handful of woman with bows and arrows. They would have immediately thought they weren’t much of a threat, and probably wouldn’t have attacked anyways. They might have tried opening a dialogue first and when the landing party was attacked then they would have attacked. In which case, yes the Amazons would not have stood much of a chance. However, if you assume they knew it was inhabited (which I believe is much more likely) that brings a lot of other variables up, like neutrality or more likely considering the time period, colonialism. It’s hard to say what would happen in real life considering this is a fake nation on an island that doesn’t exist.

Once said force was fired upon then they would determine that the islanders are hostile and began bombarding before sending in a far larger wave. The first contact group would show arrow wounds (arrows don't instantly kill) and so the Germans would determine them to be natives and would then use the superior range of their guns to pick off the rest.

With that said, they have no protection against bullets and stuff. They also allowed the Germans to reach their shores which in reality wouldn’t have been possible since the Amazons can easily take them out with arrows with precision. Wow that ONE german was a hell of a shot. He hit a FAST moving target with the iron sights of a bolt action rifle. You know the kind of time, marksmanship, skills in distance measurement, and even taking into account wind in a split second. That was the MOST impressive part about this whole scene. The jumping off a shield just looked kind of lame. The should have had her repelling across the side of the mountain while firing arrows for a far more dramatic display that would have looked much cooler and been a little more beleivable. The old "jumping off a shield or jumping over the phalanx like in the hobbit" cliche' makes me roll my eyes and forces me to focus on suspending my disbelief, expending a lot of energy to do so.

Even if it was part of a larger fleet it wouldn't be bigger than a fleet of 5 - 10 ships either cruiser or smaller class. At the start of the war German ships that weren't in European waters realized they would be hunted down so they tried their best conserve men, ammunition and coal. To deploy a 1000 men to capture a spy on an island in 1918 just days before the war ends would be a waste of resources. The German soldiers were done, they no longer wished to fight on. This was even stronger for the Navy and they were the first stepping stone in a revolt that led to the kaisers abdication.

This is a fictional movie, so that automatically reduces accuracy complaining to petty pissing contests. Secondly, the Amazons took heavy losses and ended up winning with like, 7 surviving soldiers? They were faster, the German ships were disabled due to the magic barrier and there was of course chaos in their ranks. Entering a magical island and encountering a race of godly Greeks might do that to you. Their rifles took quite long to charge whereas the amazons could lay an arrow in their bow at faster rates. It was close quartered combat, if there was any sort of distance, the Amazons would have taken a fat loss. Which they sort of did, a ton of them died. And once again, IT'S NOT BASED ON REALITY. Stop trying to seem like a fucking expert when this is literally a race of godly women fighting some random German navy in a superhero movie.

I don’t know if you know what bolt action is. Bolt action is slower than a semi, but a bit faster or the maybe (just maybe) the same speed as a bow. I’ve shot both. A bolt isn’t slower than a bow. Also wouldn’t they carry gas grenades and normal grenades? That wasn’t uncommon while facing the German army in WW1. Those grenades would’ve wiped out hordes of the amazons. And while I might have just proved your point about trying to bring logic into superhero movies, it still doesn’t make very much sense and I couldn’t see this comment and not respond. Plot armor is very tough tho so that probably helped. A lot.

A cavalry charge is almost every time stronger than infantry (without any back up from artillery). Because if you have been charged by a horse you will know that it is scary and you would find it very hard to think straight, most people would try to outrun the horse because of the flight or fight response. Also good luck trying to shoot a target that can go as fast as an horse. Those are the main reasons why nations with powerful and trained cavalry were amongs the strongest.

Notice this isn't actually an invasion. The Germans ran their ship into the rocks, because they couldn't see them through the barrier, and then it sank. At that point they became the survivors of a shipwreck. Not saying they weren't "the bad guys" or that they wouldn't have been dangerous, but at that point I don't think they were necessarily looking for a fight. And then they saw an army standing on top of the cliffs. (Come to think of it, the Amazons could probably have prevented a lot of casualties on their side if they'd just stayed up there...)
