@sisqo the box office is the difference between Marvel and DC when everything is said and done. A bad movie for Marvel will still make north of 600 million where in DC's case their track record is all over the place, and inconsistent.

It's not even just WW3, it's the DC slate as a whole. In all honesty, casting of the heroes themselves has never been the issue with me. It's been the writing and stories given to them. For me, the ideal situation would be for Gunn & Co. to retain a good chunk of the actors/actresses (maybe not Ezra?), and have them play new versions of their characters. Charlie Cox's return as Daredevil for Marvel shows that you can have the actor come back, even if it's in a new continuity. They just need to wipe the slate clean in terms of the story and continuity for the DC interconnected universe. However, if Gunn & Co. decide to COMPLETELY rebuild the DC Universe from the ground up, including letting actors/actresses go, then so be it. 10 years in, DC has nothing to show for its shared universe.

Daredevil seems to be an outlier situation. He's essentially being given a series that's 3x as long as the usual MCU series to reintroduce the character (and that's on top of his stint in SheHulk. DC can't do the same for the entire JL (minus Ezra).

@@Andorski I’m just saying there’s now a precedence for bringing an actor back to reprise a role, and have it be clearly different from an earlier iteration. Cox is being brought back for a full series, along with other appearances in other series/movies. I’m just saying if they REALLY wanted to keep these actors/actresses, they could if they wanted to. At this point, no one would really care if their versions are different from what the earlier movies established; as long as it’s them in the roles. Hell, Vincent D’Onofrio is in the same situation as well. As it stands tho, until Gunn & co. say otherwise, it doesn’t seem like they do, and I’m okay with that as well.

IMO most of the casting for the DCEU has been subpar. Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, Lex Luther, Black Manta, Ocean Master, most of the characters from the first Suicide Squad movie,..... all of these characters felt severely miscast to me. They can all easily be replaced with better quality actors IMO. Even the Batman and Superman casting never really impressed me. DC can and should do a lot better with their casting in the future

Deadline just reported that Wonder Woman 3 is not cancelled. Warner Brothers hated the script Patty came up with and asked her to rewrite it with James Gunn's studio notes. She said no and left. Warner Brothers still wants Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman but it all hinges on if Gal wants to do it without Patty.

I'm just glad we can move on from this Universe after Flash and hopefully get these characters properly portrayed in some good to decent films. I feel we need to go back to single standalone films to keep thing consistent and tightly knitted together. I still want the occasional crossovers (keyword being OCCASIONAL) but I want these characters to grow in their own films and be treated as their own franchises without the outside influences of other films complicating things. Which was the major problem with the DCEU in the first place of attempting to do everything all at once.

Biggest problem with DCEU was WB corporate structure with board members deciding what to do. SInce there was no one in charge to stir the ship, talents (Henry Carvill, Zack Snyder, Margo Robbie, Dawyne Johnson etc..) call the shots and often bully management by instigating angry fans. Irony was that, these angry 'fans' didn't show up to support the movie either so it was just in death spiral. I think Gunn made hard choice but it was necessary.

Not true there's The Batman, Joker, and the Harley Quinn show. The Batman universe will be even more productive and profitable than Peacemaker because there around 2-3 shows and 3 movies based in that universe to be released. Joker made a billion dollars, so that film was also extremely profitable. Plus, DC also got that HBO Max Green Latern show that's in development, which if done right will also be a hit. Honestly, this for the best. The DCEU, with a few exceptions, has been one big contrived mess in terms of quality and continuity. As Martin said, it's best to wipe the slate clean and begin anew then to continue with a formula that's been broken since day one.

These headlines are misleading. Gunn is just soft rebooting. In other words, he's gonna rewrite these scripts, reimagine the characters but keep all the actors. Just like he did with the Suicide Squad.

They're keeping their options open, but I can almost guarantee you, they're not keeping all those characters. The writings on the wall. The rewriting of the scripts most likely is to give those characters one last film, a la Crises On Infinite Earths. The general audience doesn't give damn about any of those characters. They may like some of them, but they were never embraced the MCU characters were embraced. The BvS and Justice League drama isn't worth it. The Snyderverse fanboys are too toxic, and associated the old characters with new direction could be a liability. To be honest I don't think they've decided what to do, well see.

I really liked the first _Wonder Woman,_ despite Gal Gadot’s lack of acting talent and a physical likeness being nowhere near “Amazonian.” WW84 was unintentionally funny, and I’m glad I didn’t waste the ticket price. That being said, I hope they recast the character with an actress who better fits the look _and who can actually act._ If they’re going to dump Mamoa (who’s been the only real bright spot for the DCEU films thus far), then I bet’not see that groomer Ezra Miller crawling around the movie sets as Flash anymore. With Gunn’s track record for pedo jokes, wouldn’t surprise me if “birds of a feather…”

That's not really true box office-wise. The Batman wasn't even close to hitting a billion. Thor: Love and Thunder was widely panned and made a little less than The Batman. Multiverse of Madness had a decent critical reception and nearly made a billion. No Way Home was better received critically and almost made 2 billion. The rising tide of a connected universe lifts all franchises, and DC/Discovery are leaving money on the table if they don't try to do the same.

As a DC fan, I’m all in for an all new reboot. DCEU just feels like a toxic relationship, where tbh I’m at a point that I just can’t take it anymore! Although I was part of the Znyder cut fan movement, I just think we need a better change if DC wants to compete against Marvel. Get new actors that are fully committed into being these characters, better story, and better directors. I would suggest this. Swipe TF outta this slate and start a new one. Announce a Justice League with a whole new cast and Brainiac as the villain. Have Superman defeat him but only a remnant of Brainiac is left behind with Lex Luthor stealing it. Then launch several spinoffs of Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Cyborg etc in their own stories to tell for the next several years to SET UP the sequel to Justice League team up against Lex and Brainiac having morphed together. This has been done in the animated series. As for Darkseid? Keep his ass in the FAR BACK of the room until DC’s version of Avengers’ Endgame(which will Justice League 3)

No. Wonder Woman 3 is not cancelled. The director turned in a bad script. She was given a chance to rewrite it and she refused, choosing on her own to leave. They wouldn't have given her the opportunity to rewrite it if they were cancelling Wonder Woman 3. All this means is WB needs to shop for a new director.

It's not really cancelled, the new regime wanted to be more focused and had some notes for what they needed to be in the film. Jenkins refused and walked on the project. It could still happen, probably not with p&j.

I was genuinely excited for WW 1984 and then I saw and it was shocked how bad it was. With movies this big, it’s harder to tell who’s at fault because it’s not like WB has made good decisions at least with superheros

I’m honestly not surprised. Especially after WW2:1984. In fact, no one should be surprised if they do just reboot the entire universe. This man left the Witcher for a cameo on Black Adam. 😂

This is an understandable move. The DCEU is a mess and it is best if it is completely scrapped and things start all the way over. No More Snydervers, no more of thebstuff we have seen, a fully clean slate. Unfortunately, that likely means actors like Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill, and Jason Mamoa are no longer in these roles and Aquaman 2 and The Flash are the final embers of what it once was. Had they planned things out more a decade ago, things would not be a mess like they are now. Hoping James Gunn and Co can get things off on a better foot.

So far it's only speculation but can't say I'm surprised it's actually On-Brand for DC to reboot either soft or hard reboot James Gunn already Teased Lobo , Mr Terrific , Hawkman , Checkmate , The Cadmus Story Arc from Justice League and The Kingdom Come Event.

DC is plagued with bad decisions and short-sighted writing. Snyder's work left them with nowhere to go, nothing to build on. Hopefully Gunn can get them to where they need to be.

Patty Jenkins wanted to put Steve Trevor in the movie AGAIN as Hal Jordan. Is Chris Pine hitting that or something, because she is hellbent on getting that dudes on set with her when it’s not necessary at all anymore.

Crazy times right now at DC. Still, the DCEU brand name did more harm than good for the general audiences to be invested with them. The only projects I liked were The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and Shazam! But the biggest issue DC had was having to commit to something. They're trying so much, having a shared universe that's a mess while also doing standalone movies that has nothing to do with the DCEU. Say what you want about Marvel, but they have managed to be cohesion and make their movies or shows feel important to a bigger story they are building up towards. DC doesn't have that, but they should. Sure, they could have continued what Zack Snyder had, but some of the viewers, including myself, didn't care. Hopefully WBD and DC get their shit together. With Gunn and Safran in charge of DC Studio, they have a presentation next week to show their plans for the future of the DCU. And just recently, Gunn tweeted that some of the stuff that was in the THR are somewhat true, half-true, and total bs. What they are, who knows, consider this all speculations.

So I guess WW raping some rando in WW 1984 wasnt a hit after all? First one was great but the second movie was beyond awful. I am hoping behind the scenes alot of this is being driven by budgeting awareness (do more with less) and a recalibration to strong story telling at least influenced by the source IP.

Best news I've heard in a while I feel mixed on gunn(although he said he shouldn't direct a superman movie so he at least knows his limitation) but DC needs this bad because the current version is feel so limited in the sense you know their are major chrachter they will never do and this version of JL chrachters could all be recast with way better actors(let me honest Affleck and fisher the only good actors in there). Shame we can't have a movie shortened to WW3 thought.

I adored the first movie, and ill miss Gal gadot in the role, but the second movie was such a turn-off. I don't really care about the DCU though. They can reboot it or not, I’ll probably Skip it either way. Cinematic universes are exhausting me. I'm still excited for the Robert Pattinson Batman, and hope they don't cancel that.

I hope they recast Gal Gadot, she never grabbed me as Wonder Woman. I also very much disliked the focus on slo-mo action in her films, or any sequence with her in it.
