The story revolves around Wonder Woman's battle against Hecate, the Witch Goddess, who infiltrated her subconscious and sought to control her body. Hecate's plan involved attacking Themyscira, killing Wonder Woman's mother and destroying the island. She continued to poison Diana's mind, urging her to seek revenge and ultimately possessed her, killing all the Gods at Mount Olympus and absorbing their powers. The Justice League attempted to confront Hecate, but their powers were no match for hers, leading to numerous fatalities and injuries. Doctor Fate and Zatana ultimately succeed in containing Hecate's powers and imprisoning her, along with Diana's body, beneath the caverns of Themyscira.
