The pushing front kick most likely has more power for most, but over a slightly longer period of time.
@whitewh116 күн бұрын
The push kick majors on momentum, which the powerkube doesn't measure. Easiest way to see the difference is just try the different kicks on a heavy bag and see which swings it the most.
@timothychang416616 күн бұрын
Everyone knows Force = mass x acceleration but people forget impact force is kinetic energy over the distance travelled. From both equations you can see the biggest difference between the teep vs the front snap kick would most likely be the speed generated at impact

Great stuff! From a Kukkiwon Taekwondo perspective, the techniques are: 1) Front Push Kick / Mireo Ap Chagi / 밀어 앞 차기 2) Front Kick / Ap Chagi / 앞 차기 3) Front Foot Side Kick / Ap Bal Yeop Chagi / 앞 발 옆 차기 (sometimes called Lead Side Kick) 4) Fast Side Kick / Ppaleun Bal Yeop Chagi / 빠른 발 옆 차기 (sometimes called Sliding Side Kick or Skipping Side Kick) 5) Turning Side Kick / Dwi Dora Yeop Chagi / 뒤 돌아 옆 차기 옆 차기 (sometimes called Back Side Kick) *** *** Not to be confused with the technique of Back Kick / Dwi Chagi / 뒤 차기 - while some people don't make the distinction, a Back Turning Side Kick is a different technique than a Back Kick (sometimes called Spinning Side Kick and Spinning Back Kick but in my opinion neither technique are spins, they're dorsal turning movements). Happy to see WB's foot healed up! I'd like to see you guys compare your Back Turning Side Kick to your Back Kick.

my sensei's naming conventions for these kicks might help -Front Push kick: Horizontal path of attack, flat of foot at contact, then push with toe: heel-toe-push. meant to control distance and can push foe back, or push yourself back off of foe. (low/mod risk) -Front Heel kick: aka Sparta kick, aka Shield Kick/Stomp: horizontal path of attack, flat foot contact, but favoring the heel, (meant to both hurt and make space). can break ribs, solar plexus KO, make space, or even topple foe... or even all of the above... (low/mod risk) -Front Spear kick: Horizontal path of attack, just the ball makes contact, driven deep, less speed than the Snap Kick, More Damage, less push back, meant to crush organs/break ribs (any power pushing them back isn't crushing their organs/breaking ribs) -Front Snap kick: aka Karate Kick; Vertical or hybrid path of attack, strikes with ball (toes pulled up/back) or "laces" (top, toes curled down) of foot. Groin kick. gut kick that drives guts up into the ribcage (attacking the diaphragm even if you miss the solar plexus) or the chin for a KO, but with the risks of any head kick This was a Karate style and this differentiation isn't always necessary (you COULD just call them ALL a Teep or even a Chassé, for historical reasons))... but we separated them, which can be conceptually useful imo

One thing I've noticed with the Powerkube videos (which could just be BS) is the speed and duration of the impact. Not in this video, but another one you guys filmed with about 5 guys total. There was one guy that was firing off his punch as soon as the machine was ready(I don't know if this helped him at all, just part of the observation) what he was doing was his speed was pretty good ( I don't know that he was the fastest) but I did notice that his time on target was shortest. It was impact, then snapping it back. Whereas some people would linger on the target, doing the old punch through and not worry about the reset, because it's a one punch machine. The guy was scoring pretty high, but he didn't look like he was hitting any harder than WB. It just made me curious. Lastly I wonder if it is displaying your peak power, or if it's displaying the average power of that punch. If it's the average power then the time on target would make way more sense if your peak is 100k,but your punch is a longer duration, you're not going to see anywhere near 100k on the readout of average power through the entirety of contact. I would assume it's a peak readout though. Just some interesting things I'd play around with to see how the machine functions if I were y'all. Could be why Alex Pereira shatter Ngannou's punch record at the Apex, I don't see Alex actually being a heavier hitter than Francis, but I could be wrong.
@boxcar940716 күн бұрын
Yeah, I beleive the cube is pressure based. So force over a larger area will output a lower score. And to your point, a more drawn out impact creates less peak pressure as the unit compresses. W.B. should make a video about interpreting power cube results.

On the stomp kick, neither of yall hit the center of the pad with your heel or the ball of the foot(push kick-ball of foot/stomp kick-heel of foot) so you ended up with the arch of your feet at the sensor with most of your force on the top and bottom. Not an accurate sample because they weren't accurate kicks. I feel the same way about the way yall threw the sidekicks. Not really hitting the center with your heel and possibly being a little too close to the pad. Definitely too close on the spinning side kick. You're only getting the power from the body rotation there and not the follow through.

I once put a debt in a car fender with a spin kick. The driver (drunk) ran over my toe as I was crossing the street in the crosswalk. She (or, her car anyway) had it coming. She jumped out of the car, followed by her two Russian bouncer-type friends . . . I thought "well - this is it . . . " She walked up to me - and (without a word) sucker punched me in the jaw. I didn't flinch (it wasn't that powerful). But, I didn't respond either. 'Cuz I knew what was coming next if I did. Anyhoo . . . Spin kicks do damage Look both ways Avoid Russian bouncers
