Balance...agility...style...the Condor Argyll Scottish Machete is a magnificent addition to the Condor Tool and Knife lineup. Designed by survival instructor and survival expert Walter Matthews, the Condor Scottish Machete combines a modern look and feel with traditional patterns and touches. In this video, we look at the machete in a hard use field test while using it in the bushcraft shelter build and fire craft scenarios.

I really like this design because it looks different, but still functional. Nice also its distally tapered i find that impacts greatly how well tool feels while working with it especially on large blades. I think it was common feature on historical designs maybe also just cos if they were hand forged hammering the steel to shape might give quite naturally distal taper. But i think there was good reason why swords, and large tools often had that as feature. Only negative for me is i dont like sheaths with snaps, and that are open like that, but i guess its practical if the blade flares towards the tip.

@@nicholasdamicosr4408 there is nothing wrong chopping down live tree if you are in area where you are allowed to do so. He also selected the tree from where lots of trees were clumped together. People who actually owns forests cuts trees like this all the time because more sparse trees grow better. In clump they just compete from same space, and resources

I really like this blade its a step back from some of your other overpriced knives. I really like what they did with the handle. You know funny thing I've been a mechanic for 40 years working with steel. The only tools I have rust are stuff I never use. The best way to care for steel is use it.

17:23 I know that battoning is everyone's most favorite controversy, but I have never split wood to make a fire and I love making big campfires. The best way to make a fire is just stack whole logs over your firepit. To get the fire started you want to make a featherstick, but after that it's just gathering progressively larger sticks until you can burn a whole log.

This is an "ersatz" of the siberian machete, (sometimes known as the "saboteur"). It's an excellent tradicional design, proved over centuries and certified by the academy of human motricity and ergonomics of S. Petesburg. The Condor version is longer, perhaps to acomodate for the needs in types of environment outside Siberia... It is an excellent blade, strong and efficient for chopping and splitting.

One thing i noticed that American (not southern / latin American) usually don't know how to cut with machete. You looks uncomfortable using it. Man i can cut down small tree like that less than 10 cut, especially using good machete like that. You can't cut tree horizontal like that 😅

I can agree with you, but only with the KZbinrs. There are plenty of woodsman who can use a machete just fine. Most of the videos I watch it is a lack of experience and technique for sure.

There are hardly any trees in the place and the guy is still going to cut down live trees just to build his damn shelter. Besides, he still wants to judge a product made by a guy much more experienced than he is. Maybe when you design and produce your own blades you can judge someone else's.
