We use proverbs a lot in natural English conversation. Like idioms, proverbs are useful to learn if you want to reach a C1/C2 level of English, above all, in order to understand native speakers, but also to express what you want to say in a more effective way.
Proverbs can also be used in the speaking and writing papers of the Cambridge English exams (B2 First, C1 Advanced, C2 Proficiency), when appropriate.
