The first release of Black's single "Wonderful Life" was by the record label Ugly Man Records in 1986 and reached no.72 in UK singles chart. After the release of the Album "Wonderful Life" in 1987 on Black's new record label, A&M Records, and the massive success of the single "Sweetest Smile", it was re-released in 1987 on A&M Records reaching no.8 in UK singles chart and became a big international hit.
