I must have llost the last message.... I just bought a 69 dollar guitar called Bestchoice. I am sure it will bring me headaches but I watched your video about better guitars and my day will come. In the meantime, you are the first person that was able to put me at ease in attacking the challenge. My fingers hurt but my heart is all in. This 63 year old will be jamming to the grateful dead and traveling wilburies one day! Until then, thank you for the simplist and most captivating way of learning. I cant wait for tomorrow. Hey Lauren, I'm 71 and have been trying to learn how to play for a little while now, recently found your videos, I know all the basic chords, still having trouble with the bars, BM, F#M,,ect. , My biggest problem was strumming and timing, my strumming really improved thanks to you, but I still get lost sometimes with the timing, (putting the words of the song into the strumming pattern.) Do you have any videos covering that. Your teaching method far better than anyone else I have found on here. Thanks so much.

Why thank you. Again, so happy that my videos are helping you. Yes, I do have a video in my online guitar course @ www.laurenbateman.com that talks about this common problem. Ideally, to be able to sing and play at the same time, the guitar has to be on autopilot. Meaning you really can't be thinking about it or the strumming at the same time. I often find students can hum and play at the same time. Try that first. - LB

Ah yes, the good old walk down. This is a picking issue. You will want to work on your picking hand making sure it only picks the string you want it to hit.

Hi Lauren,, This has been a gift. I've been practicing Wonderful tonight for a week now. My strumming is good, but I'm having trouble getting the C chord. I'm doing the exercise for stretching, it's a slow burner. At the moment Wonderful tonight and Let it be are the aims. Thanks for this lesson. P I just noticed the C chord lesson))

You’re the only person I have come across, whether it’s KZbin videos, or in person instruction i have received, that has actually helped me. With the help of your 4 chord video, I can play this entire song. It still sounds pretty sketchy, especially the D chord, lol, but I never thought I could get as far as I have. Absolutely! The basics are the basics. A C chord is a C chord whether it's on the acoustic or electric.

This is an excellent tutorial; as usual. Your lessons encourage me to continue practicing because I can actually see progress by playing beautiful songs. I still need improvement with chord transitions but I'm getting there. Again, 3 weeks with you and I've made more progress than I did with 1 year of face to face classes.

Hi Lauren also wanted to mention I'm 70 on next birthday. Played 50 yrs. ago for a year or so but now I'm seriously motivated and play everyday and sometimes all day. Hard to Guage my progress at times. My friends who heard me play a month back and hear me now say big improvement. Bought a nice aqustic guitar 4 months ago and love it. Go to sleep with a song and start playing when I wake up. Being my age can I get good enough to play for others and not get booed???
