I got my girl because my daughter found her running abandoned in a busy street. Shelters were so full that not one would take her at the time. I'm actually happy that they didn't, because now I have this beautiful soul in my life. She is so full of love that even the cat snuggles with her! The thing that makes me sad is that I know there are others just like her waiting in shelters--thank you for encouraging people to take care of these sweeties.

I’m on my 5th rescue dog, once I had 2 at once , big dogs, older dogs. The main thing is you have to try and block out those thoughts, you helped save one dog, and imagine if everyone did that, but we can’t dwell on what we can’t do, only on what we can. otherwise it’s too emotionally overwhelming. My current fella is between 8 & 11yrs now, I’ve had him for nearly 23 months, my previous dog before him was 11 & 4 months when I got him, a big Bull Arab, unfortunately he got an aggressive bone cancer in his hip which is extremely rare, and he had a partially torn ACL so they missed the cancer only 1 month before and in that time it traveled down his whole leg into his lungs, but it still would have been too late at that stage anyway, I was so gutted, and I cried like a baby when the vet came to my place and he died with his head in my lap. But I only managed 2 months without a dog companion, I also believe that my previous dog picks the dog I need, and that the Dog needs me, and I find that to help with the grief and I know they’re with me always. We do what we can, we encourage our friend’s to adopt don’t shop, and what save the dog we can whether that is only one or more. My current fella had a brutal abuse history, he is covered in scars and was terrified of even me on the way home, but I’ve had abused one’s before so I just go gently and at their pace, it’s a privilege to help my boy, because he has helped me every day and every minute of the day since I got him. We do the best we can.

I had to put my sweet boy Gatsby down last week due to cancer. I’m absolutely devastated so it was nice to see happy dogs running on the beach. Give your pets extra hugs because we never have them long enough 😢

@@sharonsolana Lee Asher's male dog named "MOO" (he also has a female Moo) is such a special soul. Lee named him MOO after cows, because of his fur. He's the dog that was running with other dogs and he eluded rescuers for a while. Once you see him, you can easily spot him in the pack. He also has gorgeous deep-blue eyes. You have to check out MOO's rescue video. Definitely one of my absolute faves! 🙂 MOO is so well-socialized and welcoming. Lee said MOO is good for the pack and he will stay with Lee.

These videos brighten up my day more than so can even say. These precious souls are truly amazing, they are now safe and living their best lives in a beautiful sanctuary. We need more places like The Asher House, I pray that one day no dog will ever be on the euth list for lack of space! I cannot watch dog rescues without crying, I cry so hard for these babies we save and for the ones we lose. Thank you Lee. I don’t have a lot of money, but I was able to get a calendar and my baby girl her very own pink Asher House hoodie, she was the cutest dog in the snow! I spend my time working hard to help her gain some confidence and not be reactive with other dogs, she had such a rough time in the shelter, spent the first year there, not getting the socialization puppies need, and she was beat up on some bigger dogs during playtime, and instead of trying to get her back in with a group of dogs they isolated her. She is so great with my autistic son, which can be hard for some dogs because of the loud noises and stimming behaviors. I love my little family, we’ve been through a lot together. I got her in December 2021, my son was struggling to get into his special needs school and I was having a really rough time medically. I’m in intestinal failure and have a paralyzed stomach leaving me dependent on IV nutrition and tube feeding. It can get hard doing it all alone and still staying as healthy as you can emotionally. Sephie would snuggle with me and give me a reason to get up when my little boy was at school. People use the words “Just a dog”, but she is so much more than that!

Do you happen to know of a rescue in Bakersfield California? I watch a channel and he drives around and feeds homeless dogs. We came across a male pittie we named Zeus and a female Shephard/huskie (we think) mix. After 3 weeks and the content creator feeling safe to look into the dog house it was discovered that mama dog Lucy has two puppies. Anyway we went out to see and feed the dogs (filmed live) and Zeus who the content creator fell in love with was nowhere to be found. He put the camera on mama dog Lucy and the little black pitty pups while he drove around looking for Zeus. Jacob found Zeus...shot dead in the orange groves!!!! We were all wondering why mama dog Lucy was acting extra skittish. We got the pitties rehomed. Jacob drove 6 hours one way to deliver the last of the two pups. Both dogs in very loving homes and the new owners send family video's of them in their new homes. We need to find a home for poor Mama Lucy. She sits on command. Does not jump up even when Jacob tried to get her to. I suspect these dogs Zeus and Mama Lucy were abused. Jacob cannot keep mama dog Lucy because he already has two large dogs. Since Jacob has taken her in she has regressed. He claims she is cowaring around him. I think it is because he talks very loud and not in even tones. She gets startled easily. He is willing to drive almost anywhere if his viewers pay the gas money. We all kick in and get the job done. Is there anywhere in Bakersfield Cali that is a rescue that you know can take Mama dog Lucy. He will not surrender her to a no kill but he might have to. If his landlord finds out he has Mama dog he could get evicted from his apartment. Please help!!!! When Jacob took the doggies to get shots the Vet said Mama Dog Lucy is a little over a year old. She is young. So she is not some old washed up dog. She is lovable and has much to offer a new owner. We want her in a home where she will feel safe and loved for the first time in her life. She lost Zeus, then her pups and now is on her own and afraid.

Watching the Great Dane make his rounds with you at the end of the night when you were telling everyone goodnight, I don’t know it says a lot about the dog. He is an amazing and loving and caring dog, and just like you going around telling all the dogs good night and him doing the same with you. It just shows that you care about the other dogs but also that he is showing them that he cares. Also, that dog sitting like that just cracks me up.

I am so touched - crying with this beautiful sharing of the saving of the Dynamic Duo - - I have always only ever had cats and have rescued them from outside or from local rescuers - - and they have been my forever companions. Sometimes I reflect on the life long loving friends I have had in them - and think of course what would that life have been if I had not come along and opened my heart life home for them ? It is the heart wrenching soft spot of love that we have to keep working through to keep helping. Rescue is miraculous and special and hard and so worth it. XOXO Lee and your doggie family.
