Well, animal activists are not globally hated for no reason. They do good things for some animals but they also tend to be extremists who see everything in black and white and they tend to forget that humans are animals too. We changed the world because we evolved a capacity to do so, just like every other animal evolved on this planet; that doesn't mean we're meant to be isolated from them and that we can't interfere with nature at all, even in loving ways. Just because some animals are exotic doesn't mean that they shouldn't receive affection or that they absolutely have to live in the wild and obey to their every instincts, with no interaction with us. We used to be hunters as well but most people aren't, now. Does it mean that we're not following our own instincts and that we should drop people on remote islands to live in tribes? How is it better for animals to die in the wild rather than being taken care of by humans? They have feelings like us, they like to receive affection, and to play and they can get attached to someone just like we, and other pets, can. We improved our living conditions using our brains; I don't see why we shouldn't apply it to some animals the same way, when necessary. This couple's motivation was noble and I'm glad they did what they did. I personally would be too scared to do it but when some people are able to, when the animal's been taken care of by humans since it was a baby and if it doesn't try to attack people, I'm not against it. Not all animals are treated equal, even by animal protection groups. I brought a sick baby squirrel at the SPCA once (the animal protection agency where I live). They didn't even try to help it, they didn't examine the animal or give it food, or medication or care, they just put it in a cardboard box as soon as we got there, that they threw in the basement, and they let it suffer and die there. Their reasonning was that they didn't have the time and ressources (a vet) and they had more important things to deal with than a sick squirrel that they probably couldn't help. I understand being busy and having too many animals to take care of, but they didn't even try for 2 minutes and they literally thew the box on the floor, after we spent a few days feeding it and trying to take care of it. Humans are what they are. There are good and bad people everywhere. The couple in this video are good people.

John Harrison you can see quite clearly that it’s not going to “end badly”. This cat is obviously very docile and friendly, as many hand-raised cats are. And many house cats are not aggressive in the slightest. That doesn’t make them “like dogs”, it makes them like cats. Cats can be extremely affectionate and docile. Cat behavior covers the full spectrum, ranging from extremely dangerous and ferocious to being very gentle, friendly and docile with not a hint of aggression. There is no one-size-fits-all. Clearly this puma has a lovely, predictable temperament and presents no danger. Additionally, he’s not that big and still much smaller than a lion or tiger.

That is truly a unique story! I could not believe my eyes when he was getting his claws trimmed, how relaxed he was was unbelievable! As far as the animal rights activists go I think Messi is happier where he is than in the wild. I've seen some fairly tame Wildcat stories but this just takes the cake! Years ago when I was in high school I took on a summer job as a Keepers helper at the local Zoo and got acquainted with a white tiger they had on exhibit named Kalif. I was allowed to scratch him on the head and make him purr, that was a rush hearing a big tiger purr like a house cat! Something I'll never forget!

I’ve been watching Messi videos for years. People need to understand that Alexander doesn’t forget for a minute that Messi is a cougar and that he could be dangerous. The difference is messis temperament and ability to interact with other animals and people. Alexander only lets his guard down when he’s at home with Messi, in a controlled environment. Messi is just different. It’s like that once in a lifetime dog that you’ll never forget. Never really had to train him he just sort of understood you. That’s the way I see Messi, minus the training part. Haha. I’m sorry but anyone saying that he should be in a preserve or some other “cage”, I think that that cat would be dead inside of a month if he were to leave Alexander and his wife’s care. Sorry I don’t remember her name. It’s not to take anything away from her, she’s 100% committed to Messi as Alexander is. Without their dedicated care Messi wouldn’t even have survived.

Even if you aren't out there taking care of mountain lions, you should still respect that these animals are capable of love, compassion, and caring for their loved ones. For those of us who live around wild animals, it's best to admire them from a distance--but hopefully Messi's story can help you respect that they are not just automatons that reproduce and eat. That they care, they have feelings, they think. And they deserve to be here as much as we do. We should protect wild habitats and wild animals as much as possible--and we should incorporate that into the design of our cities and neighborhoods.

Actually, I don't believe he's an exception at all. When looking into the incidents we've seen where one has attacked it's owner, they always find something lacking. Spending adequate time with the animal to bond, animal being starved, unaddressed health issue's, etc. usual results in disaster. Often time's people like drug dealers will have them just to brag but not to really love & care for it. I've seen bears that are at a rescue in NY (I believe that's where it's located) have great relationship with them. Jimbo was a massive Kodiak that was well over 20, sadly passed away a few years ago and had an outstanding relationship with his Humans too, as well as the other bears there. @Kellyn Antonacci I beg to differ. That may be true in conditions that are ideal for the animal but more often than not, they aren't and an animal has to live through stress and danger just to survive even when it can get enough food. Animals not born in the wild are particularly ill suited to surviving it, especially carnivores. If this couple lived in a pump's normal environment it may be in the wild in the spring and summer but in the colder months when food is harder to get, it would only be away from it's comfortable shelter and warmth for some exercise. Most of the time, it would be sitting contently in front of the fire. Cats are like people, sure they are capable of living a wild life but at the end of the day, they prefer a life of comfort and ease. Don't equate what is normal for them to what they'd want to do. Most humans now couldn't survive living the way that was normal for us a couple of hundred years ago.

@UCIpSw5ASPTb4AERTkL-H7NA I can't imagine a wild animal spending its entire life without hunting, fighting ,breeding or raising their own kids.. Mammals are literally made for it,even humans can't spend their entire life without doing even one of these things
@savage78823 жыл бұрын
@Kellyn Antonacci People who live in hunter-gatherer societies are way happier... Can you even link to a study that merely hints to that without major disclaimers? The reason we built society is because we were not content with living in a primitive state. Unbelievable... I see you very comfortably posting this from your account, using your modern device, and your internet connection. You have the freedom to go to alaska like ted kaczynski and live with the grizzlys but you dont.
@savage78823 жыл бұрын
@Kellyn Antonacci Also they quite literally explained how this animal would have been either killed by euthanasia or in the wild because of its illnesses. So you taking the moral high ground is not exactly a wise choice. You appeal to nature by saying "its the only natural state for that animal to exist" yet you ignore the fact that it would perish in nature because of its disabilities. So what is it you want? For the animal to die pathetically in its natural environment almost immediately or to live in a home and get care? I'd love to see you try argue arbitrary ethics around this one.

The fact that he can clip the puma’s nails like that is crazy. My house cat isn’t even that calm
@WizardofGOP3 жыл бұрын
That right there is all the proof he needs to show others that the puma is okay. A normal house cat would have wrecked his beep for trying to do that.
This family are ALL about ❤ Absolutely incredible story. Messi is where he belongs. Any idiots who say or think differently need to get a reality check.

This looks like a perfectly healthy and happy animal for me. Messi doesn't seem frustrated with his enviroment and they take good care of him. No animal sanctuary would be able to replace that.
@alexb76413 жыл бұрын
Yeah an animal sanctuary would absolutely be able to replace that. The rest is "oh it's a kitty, I wanna hug and a squeeze it and never let it go" It's all cute until a kid gets mauled. These things aren't evolved for human interaction like dogs. Trying to force it is rife will moral and ethical issues.

@@alexb7641 bruh it has muscle dystrophy and is a runt. As long as it’s on a leash or contained in a yard, it’s not different than a dog
@MrUrui63 жыл бұрын
Ye looks healthy and happy, wasn’t really meant to be in Russia in the first place though. It’s an “exotic”animal, meaning it should have really been in an exotic atmosphere to begin with, hence why it got health problems and had recessive issues. It’s great these people are giving it a loving home but technically it’s own genetics have been stunted in a sense. If it was fully developed you would need a few acres to maintain keeping an exotic animal like that with a close connection. African tribes have achieved the same thing beyond just centuries due to the vast amount of land. They can communicate with a lost of different animals within the cat family and beyond tbh.

What makes animals/pets such as dogs (and big cats) happy, as shown in research, isn't as much about having a bunch of toys to play with or large swaths of land to run/play/explore in... What makes animals/pets the happiest is being around their human/owner. This has been scientifically proven to be the number 1 factor in making animals/pets happy.

Messi was raised from a baby. A really small sized BABY. Messi knows affection and need, and is given that affection and need. He would not get THAT anywhere. Some people just are too ignorant to realize this. Messi would stop eating and die of heartbreak of abandonment if daddy Sasha and mama Maria relinquished him to a sanctuary. THIS, THEY WILL NEVER DO. Messi belongs w/ them, they are a FAMILY. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
