I introduce you to my latest build, by touring the inside and outside. It's a wooden camper with a style not seen on other micro-campers. From its curved roof to its chinking-style wood frame, its a vintage cabin on wheels. Inside are all the necessities for comfort while camping without overdoing it.

Now that is one cool looking camper! Can’t wait to see more of your build process. I’m wanting to build something like this for my ‘71 C-10 truck.

Thanks. I wish you the best on your build and I hope you'll share it with us here on KZbin. A wood camper would look great with that truck.

Check out the KZbin channel called, Truck house life. He built a camper that looks like a log cabin on the back of his truck. Checkout the windows he used for his build. He lives in Alaska.

I have watched a few of his videos. They're pretty good. His truck camper is really nice looking. I'm envious of it.

Hey man I just gotta say I love your channel!! I’m currently working on a camper build for my channel and your builds have definitely given me some inspiration!! Thank you for documenting the build process and I truly believe your channel will be huge if you keep doing these builds!! Your voice overs are calming and the fast paced build process keeps a person watching!! Thank you!! I should hopefully be posting at least the outside shell of my build within the next couple weeks on my channel if you’re interested in seeing it 🤙

@@mikekrabal Thank you I really appreciate that!! I really like that swing out kitchen idea you had so I might be doing something similar to this camper as long as I can keep the weight down! Did that work well for you or is there anything you would have done differently?
@mikekrabal
@mikekrabal 3 ай бұрын
@@worklessenjoylifemore The camper worked surprisingly well overall. If anything the front end was a little light. That could be fixed by starting with a larger trailer or scooting the axle back or incorporating the AC into the front wall. If I built it again, id definitely tongue and groove the walls instead of using splines. We pulled it over 300 miles with no issues otherwise.

Freaking awesome build brother! I've got an idea about the inside of the drip line on both sides of the camper for you. In that gap, string some LED tape for a softer outside light than the door light that's on it now. It's just an idea. I also can't wait to see the full build series and you've given me the perfect trailer build that I've been looking for. Great job and can't wait for the next video.

I love the new camper. Sad to see the old one go, it took a lickin' . . . I feel like the new one has the spirit of old one coursing through its new non pressure treated wood. It really looks good. Thompson's and Sikaflex, good tips.

I'm going to try to have it up in August. It's over ten hours of footage that I'm going to try to edit to about 40 minutes. Or, I may make multiple videos to show more detail. What method do you think would be better as a viewer? It takes me about 8 hours just to edit down one hour of footage. Thank you for watching!

Thanks for having a look at the video. I sold it for $6k. It cost about $3200 to build it. I didn't have any offers at a higher price point, but there were a few at $6k. Once you factor in the time/labor to build it, I didn't profit. Just needed to fund the next build and needed the garage space.

Hey Mike, what do you do for a potty? Did you think of possibly buying a cassette toilet? Easily stored and pretty necessary. Love your work....beautiful.....have you ever thought of selling? I would LOVE to have one of your campers?
@mikekrabal
@mikekrabal 11 ай бұрын
Hi! Since this trailer was barely bigger than a teardrop, I didn't plan to install a toilet. The interior height was really low, too. When we camped in it, we just planned for a regular campground that had bathrooms. I'm building another one now that an adult can stand in. That one will have a toilet of some sort, and a kitchenette inside. Thanks for checking out the video! I have thought about selling them. I'd like to perfect it a little more though. This was a prototype for sure.

I didn't keep track of the material cost on this build. I used an old, secondhand trailer that I already had and just bought materials when I could afford it. So I don't really have a number. Thanks for the question, though.

How much would you charge to build a custom one for purchase ?
@mikekrabal
@mikekrabal Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. It depends on how complicated it will be. The most simple trailer would likely begin at $5k and go up from there. Material and labor.

How long do you expect it to be waterproof, realistically?
@mikekrabal
@mikekrabal 4 ай бұрын
It's hard to say. It's the first one that I've built, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I expect it to be like any other wooden outside structure, though. It will need regular maintenance just like a deck, shed or wood-sided house. A lot will be determined by how much effort the new owner puts into it. I know they bought a carport for it to sit under when not in use. If they never seal it again, it won't last that long. If they seal it at least annually, it will last a while. Thanks for checking out the video and for the question!

Hola, gracias por ver el vídeo. Estoy usando Google Traductor.

The camper is 6x9 feet. 47 inch interior height. There's a complete build video on my channel as well. If you would build a similar one, it would be better to tongue and groove the wood and use a one-piece roof. The trailer was 4x8. Thanks for watching!

Where's the insulation
@mikekrabal
@mikekrabal 11 ай бұрын
For that build, I never planned to install insulation. I just wanted to keep it as simple as possible and I couldn't add anymore weight due to the trailer's limited load capacity. Adding insulation, and an interior wall to cover it, would've made the build too heavy for the trailer. Thanks for watching!
