Thanks for the video, I made a jig just like yours for 3 inch spacing and got screws started in all my balusters. Worked perfectly! Saved me tons of aggravation!

Thanks for sharing. Love your methods. Simple and easy, and the railings look great

I always use vinyl gutter upside down as the top cap. It protects the wood, looks better and will never rot. It will in most cases snap right on a 2x4 without the use of any screws

I will be making a spacer like you made for my project. Thanks.

Built my deck just like this and the code inspector failed me on the “handrail “ and not notching my posts and using carriage bolts. Imagine that

Interesting, what State are you in? I would have thought the notch was optional, seems like it here is NC

I have a question for you on your spindles. Did you cut those 45°? On the bottom
@how-toswithaaron16 Жыл бұрын
I bought them that way and cut the other end to the length I wanted
@jadedparadise196 ай бұрын
Nice video. I like the blocking under the deck. How far apart can/should the posts be?
@how-toswithaaron166 ай бұрын
Usually between 6 and 8 feet max
@adrielmontiel1887 Жыл бұрын
The spindles do you cut them with a bevel ? Or you just cut it with a 45 degree ?
@how-toswithaaron16 Жыл бұрын
Yep a 45 degree cut does good You could less like 35 if you like how it looks but 45 is the norm
@adrielmontiel1887 Жыл бұрын
@@how-toswithaaron16 45 degree cut ? No bevel on the saw right ?
@how-toswithaaron16 Жыл бұрын
Right. I usually miter You can usually find them with the angle already cut and then just cut to length

Is that a 5 inch deck board on top?
@how-toswithaaron167 ай бұрын
Yes You could use a 2x4 but I like a deck board as a better place to set a drink, and it covers a little more

Handrail or guardrail ?
@how-toswithaaron16 Жыл бұрын
Either sounds right to me, perhaps you could say guard rail since it’s not going downstairs

Interesting, but you're moving your camera around way too fast - I get really dizzy trying to follow. Half the speed would be accurate. Thanks.

Good information. but I got dizzy with the camera moving everywhere...you need a tripod...
