If you do not know how to identify solid wood, from engineered wood from laminate from MDF from vinyl to porcelain, please DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS or any other method until you have plenty of training and can absolutely, positively identify every floor type prior to wet or dry cleaning.

Ive had many tell me it is, and based on it being 1/3rd the price and it's ability to get under things better, the answer is yes.

The problem with using a wand is that the jets, regardless of psi, penetrate the water into, not just onto the floor. Water damage on wood doesn’t always rear it’s head until much later. Wood floor extractors scrub, TRICKLE, SQUEEGEE , and vacuum simultaneously. The water is sparsely and evenly distributed over the brushes and then immediately squeegeed and vacuum up.

@@MikePailliotet consider that the same reason you are reluctant to spray the solution of the floor versus mopping it on, is the same concern with using a hard surface wand; except that the hard surface wand is much closer and with much more flow than you would spray the floor with. No one in their right mind would spray with an in-line, most would opt for a pump sprayer. It’s a dangerous way to clean wood floors. There is money to be made in wood floors and the cost of buying the machine to do it safer and more effective is quickly made back in just 2-3 jobs. As I type this, we are on a 1500$ wood floor job, that should take no more than 3 hours. I’ve had the wood floor extractor for 5 years. It cost me 3k to start.

​@@meatoftheword1I don't spray because it deflects and makes a mess of baseboards and walls, but a 55psi multi sprayer would have been fine otherwise. In no way was there enough water used or left behind to damage an inch thick solid plank.

a colleague of mine said it best.. Nice. The goal of what we do is to safely and efficiently bring surfaces to as close to new condition as possible all with customer satisfaction and profit in mind. We forget this sometimes and get stuck in a rut of our own making because it is comfortable. None of us would be where we are if it weren't for continual innovations. New materials and construction, new chemistry, new equipment and processes. How many of you remove a rug (carpet), hang it on a tree, beat it with a broom, then take it to the river and wash it with rocks and lye? I have a Dirt Dragon, and a Gecco, and mops. I've done many hardwood floors, but this system has distinct advantages, including: 1. Greater efficiency (less time filling and dumping, less time hand cleaning edges, etc) 2. Less space needed in van for equipment 3. Less cost than a self contained machine 4. Less maintenance cost 5. Greater productivity 6. Enhanced customer perception / value (it doesn't look at all like a machine they can rent at the grocery store). 7. Greater versality (more opportunities) All that, and it can be done safely after probably only a few hours of education on material identification. Thanks for the video, Mike.
