Thank you this helpful video. What if you were in a situation where you can't clamp the components together [like joining the arms to the body of a sculpture] would you still recommend PVA glue as adhesive?

Hello, great video. I have an old Kay parlor guitar. The bridge was bolted down on top of the guitar's finish with no glue. It has lifted up and I have removed the bridge. I want to glue it down and re-bolt it. Is there a glue that will bond the wood bridge to the guitar's glossy finish, or should I remove the finish (fairly thick)? thanks for your help.

I have a joint on a chair that I can only spread apart 1/8 of an inch. I have cleaned the areas with sandpaper slid into the gap.I am using a bar clap to squeeze it together with wood glue(Titebond) attempt #1 and Gorilla clear glue the 2nd & 3rd attempt.It keeps pulling apart. The dowels are not securing it. Should I put a screw in it to secure it & then cover the hole with a wood plug.?

Did I hear you say at 4:18 that 10 degrees Centigrade is 18 degrees Fahrenheit?

A difference of ten degrees centigrade is a difference of 18 degrees in Fahrenheit

A cleaner which contains amyl acetate is capable of removing liquid nails, lacquers, polyurethane stains, and a whole lot more. Products far more harder to remove than titebond 3. Test fabric first for damage before soaking it in the cleaner. If no damage, soak for 30 minutes, agitate with gloved hands, soak another 10 minutes if any glue remains. Rinse in water before running through the washing machine.

Difficulty in removing does not equate which solvent will break down an adhesive or glue
@theduder26173 жыл бұрын
@@ryans9029 Did you read what you were about to post before posting? I literally stated a solvent that does break down a multitude of adhesives. Chemistry class, high school level, first year. If you understand the adhesive, you can then locate a substance which can remove said adhesive.

I need to laminate some cedar strips that have to be wet in order to bend. Anybody have experience with this? Going to try Titebond 3. What do you think?

Is it ok to use a planer to remove excess glue?
@Erowens987 жыл бұрын
You can do it but the blade will wear faster. Do so based on your own judgment.

Why put on so much glue you need to wipe, it would seem, half of it off?
