Excellent real job usage!!! This means so much to me!! You have explained the real time usage in the best way possible!!! I do not have a lot of logs to saw so this helps me make my decision on the saw I want to purchase and what to expect!! Did I say EXCELLENT VIDEO!!!! I was going for the hydraulic model you purchased but, now I have decided on a cheaper model. Thanks so much!!!!

Thanks for the reality check! Best to keep the expectations low, right? I just unloaded the pallet containing my LT15 manual mill; can't wait to start making those mistakes! (Also known as learning by doing lol).

bradpj53 learning by doing for sure! Lol. I like to call it learning the hard(y) way... if it was easy everyone would be doing it :-) good luck with the LT15... it’s a lot of fun for sure. I still have a ton to learn about proper drying and what can be used where, but I see many years of fun and learning ahead. Thanks for commenting!

As you get more proficient things will speed up. I started sawing as the sawyer at 15 0n my Dad's circular sawmill it took a while to really get proficient but after a while, I could saw as fast as my Dad.

Thanks for the encouragement Jim! I'm looking forward to many more hours and years on the mill. I wish I had been as lucky to have grown up around one as this is such an awesome process from log to lumber! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

Great video, I picked up the same sawmill last fall and I definitely think sawmilling season is year-round! Where we are in the high mountains of Colorado, there is snow on the ground at least 6 months of the year and I have been known to shovel out the sawmill in the middle of February for a few boards.

great video, down to earth and real. how much do you think your 4 series JD can life with the forks, i have a 3r series and love it but the lifting cap sucks and thinking about trading it in on a new 4. keep the cool vids coming .

Hey thanks for the comment, really appreciate it! According to the specs it says 2500 lbs... we have only had one situation so far that it couldn't lift the log we cut and that was a 10ft long 30 inch diameter red oak. The 4052R is my brothers, most of the time I use my JD 2032R unless we need to pull out the big guns... Funny though in my video review of the 2032R my main issue with it is lift capacity... If i could justify it I'd get a nice skid loader but for now that would be overkill. Hoping to get some more sawmill videos produced soon!

Nice video. I've been looking to buy an LT35 for awhile now to replace a little Hudson I have. What would you say you cut-off is for it being too cold to mill? I'm up in interior Alaska and our milling season is short to begin with, but I'm looking for any reason to extend it past the second week of September!

I'd love to give ya an answer based on experience but this will be the first year I have the mill for the full winter. My goal is to get a mill shed built... that particular video however it was around 34 degrees F... so that is pretty cold for us here, luckily not cold enough to require antifreeze in the water. September its just starting to think about cooling off here in Ohio... Bow season starts at the end of the month and it almost still too hot and buggy to mess with it.

Gotcha! I appreciate the feedback nonetheless. Moose season up North starts in August, hoping to go tag one up near Coldfoot in the Brooks. Great channel and I appreciate the content 👍

Stopping the action when the mistake occurred would have been helpful. This would have demonstrated the mistake instead of just talking about the mistake. Otherwise, enjoyed the video.

Thanks for the feedback. That was very early in our KZbin stardom (lol) and I have to say we are still learning on that front as well as the milling. Thanks for watching and commenting; we appreciate it! - Josh

Thanks for the feedback John. I’m planning an upcoming video with just me milling in normal speed. I have another video that shows some mistakes I made as well. Still learning on the capture but also how much folks are willing to sit through and watch. Appreciate the feedback... we will continue to improve. Thanks!
