Thanks Carl. I absolutely loved watching that project. My daughter is majoring in cinema/film making in college, and is a big Harry Potter fan. A project like this would make a great gift to give to her. I can just picture the reactions she might get from fellow students visiting her dorm. Robin did an awesome job with the paint scheme and your faux page lines with wood burner was a nice touch. Thanks again for the ideas and incentive.

Great project Carl and Robin. Arbotech cutters are great and sometimes when I'm doing a large project I go outside (if it's not raining), spread a large piece of polythene which captures all of the shavings and then fold it up and channel it into my garbage can. Saves a lot of time in the workshop.

That turned out super cool. I really love the different visual textures you get from having it both carved and having multiple layers of different paint colors. I am surprised you used a drum sander to clean up the rough board instead of the old jointer/planer method. If you don't have a jointer or planer, you could always swing over to Eugene and use mine if you want. Just seems like it would have been a quicker method for you and gotten you a bit flatter a surface to start from.

Reminds me too much of the book from Hocus Pocus, and that is rather unsettling since in the movie universe of HP the book is made of flesh, written in blood and is a true talisman of evil. Bow ever it still looks great even if I prefer my prop spell books to look like the sort from Pottermore I can't disregard you two's work always inspires me.

That is right. The Book in the Movie is made of human skin and written with blood. To make one of wood, should be possible. I mean taht the Book only look´s like from the carvings as the original.
