That looks like fun. I am quite jealous. One thing I find interesting is how people outside of the U.S. use the word timber. In the U.S. it is only used for large beams , the smallest would be a 6 inch by 6 inch beam. Timber isn’t used to refer to planks, boards , and certainly never fire wood. Timber to us in the US implies large structural wood. This is just an observation. I really like your train.

Timbers are currently any lumber dimension larger than a 6x6. 6x6 is lumber whereas a 6x7 is a timber.

Timber is just any wood that has been cut and processed for construction. Size doesn’t make a difference. This is the official definition and it doesn’t change based on location, people are either right or wrong and in this case he was wrong.

Adoring this productive little railway Hope to see the steam engine also being used to help reforestation and rehabilitation of the local nature like building ponds in wet areas and transporting saplings, soil, sheep fencing. Leave enough dead and fallen wood 🪵 leaves 🍃🍂🍁 and branches left under tree canopies to decompose and create habitats 🐞for hundreds of thousands of creatures. A railway can't only be good for extraction of materials.

The Lynton Railway is one foot gauge , as for loads it all depends on the grades on your line , The Lynton Railway has grades as steep as 1 in 30 , we were all amazed when Merlin took off with this train up hill as there was about 3 ton of wood aboard , check out this link studio.kzbin.infoGiPw1yQp4CU/edit it shows a load test of Merlin .
