wood turning a oak vase and resin with branches
I create a vase all in oak wood.
An old pieces of a boat keel and a few branches joined together by black resin.
Once mounted on the wood lathe, I start by cutting the part, letting myself be guided by the grain of the wood until obtaining the final shape, then I sand and fill the small holes using black cyano glue and powder glass for larger holes.
I dig with two different gouges in order to refine the walls as well as possible and obtain a smooth appearance to receive a layer of black acrylic paint.
The finish is provided by enriched carnauba wax.

Tournage sur bois d'un vase tout en chêne avec branches et résine noire .
Je créer un vase tout en bois de chêne .
Un vieux morceaux de quille de bateau et quelques branches assemblés par de la résine noire .
Une fois monté sur le tour à bois je commence par tailler la pièce en me laissant guider par le grain du bois jusqu’à obtenir la forme définitive,puis je ponce et rebouche les petits trou à l'aide de colle cyanoacrylate noire et de poudre de verre pour les plus gros trous.
Je procédé au creusage avec deux gouges différentes afin d’affiner au mieux les parois et obtenir un aspect lisse pour recevoir une couche de peinture noire acrylique.
La finition est assuré par de la cire de carnauba enrichie.

Lovely piece. Very inventive. Something almost mystical about the end result. Don't know how to clarify that - it's the reaction I have. The grain of the wood above and below the cut end section is extraordinary - such a tight pattern to it. And then the cut ends floating in darkened resin, like celestial events. I'm home.

Bonjour, très joli vase bravo !! pour la teinte noire sur le chêne et le châtaignier on peu la faire avec deux tiers d'eau, un tiers de vinaigre blanc, un peu de paille de fer on mélange le tout on laisse reposer deux trois jours et voila . on passe avec un pinceau,1, 2 , ou 3 couche pour avoir une teinte plus ou moins noir . ça marche très bien sur les bois avec un fort tanin Merci pour les vidéos , Patrick

Kenneth I'm not sure I fully understand your question ..? Here I do not use this species of wood .. but the hickory is used to make drum sticks or certain kitchen utensils ..
