Well, look at that, I'm first! I think you did a great job under the circumstances, Al. Tough piece of wood and not all the tools in the world to work with and it STILL looks amazing! Phil

I Loved it ;the effort and persistence in what you see can be done with a piece of wood. Al, have you considered wood stabilizer such as Cactics Juice for those doddy pieces. Does a good job
@AlFurtado2 жыл бұрын
Yes I have and I know a bit of ca glue would have helped as well. Still the Moto of my channel is not to go out and buy stuff it is to work with whatever you have at hand at that moment. I am sure if I had purchased some in the past I would have used it. In this case seeing I was using some epoxy I could have filled all the voids a bit better but than I would be asked why wouldn't I use a vaccum pot. LOL. So many ways on can do things right?

Very cool bowl. One of a kind!. I have a question not related to this video. I made a honey bowl. If I remember, I used spray on enamel as a finish. Possibly polyurethane. Would it be OK to put honey in it?? Thanks and keep your videos coming! BOB

I’m a bit late to the party on this video! Although I’m subscribe and with notifications the darn YT algorithm have put you in the back seat!!! Really great to see you again.. you, Eddy and recently Phil ‘Shady’ are my turn too for learning the gnarly stuff!… this could be a delicate question… but what’s happened to Eddie…? 🤷🏼♂️
@AlFurtado Жыл бұрын
WB is in order I guess and thank you for the compliment. I am confused as to whom you are reffering to as Eddie? I am thinking Eddie Casteling known as Cap Eddie? as far as I know he's still posting. I see posts from him in fb here and there. Being on a boat with limited internet, working and boat maintenance. I don't spend a lot of time on KZbin

Hey Al, Im Pete, a learning woodturner from New Zealand and I have a question Id like your opinion on please. I see a lot of woodturning videos with guys using burls and to be honest I cant believe the waste they are prepared to go to in roughing them out to get their desired piece. I think its wasteful to do so. Am I wrong here???

I try to core some whenever possible but it's the nature of wood turning
@lennym12732 жыл бұрын
I don't know Al using epoxy might be cheating a bit lol J/K, looks good only you could have seen a bowl in a chunk of wood like that was...
@AlFurtado2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I guess you're right. What did you think of how the lathe handled this without the generator running? Big difference from initial test huh?
@lennym12732 жыл бұрын
@@AlFurtado It seamed to handle just fine, that was some pretty tuff wood I could see it fighting you a bit and it was a lot of interrupted cutting , so yeah looked to be doing what it is suppose to be...
